But don't worry this post isn't about music LOL don't leave yet!
I wanna upload pics, but that will be a while later cos I procrastinate.
This week has been a pretty light one at work, so before I get even lazier, here's a mini recap about the year so far (with a pic for each month!) cos I realise it's ending omg.
January 2018:
I came back from Korea! It was a month of catching up with lectures and friends, and reconciling with the fact that I was gonna grad soon cos it was my final sem :'(
February 2018:
I attempted to start bringing my own flask. Was off to a good start actually, but it lasted about... 3/4 of the sem? -bmf-
It was also a month of more job applications (the absolute worst), and feeling nervous cos a handful of my friends were already receiving offers :/
I remember having an interview the day before CNY Eve, and while it went decently, the salary offered was absolutely peanuts. Really left me feeling quite discouraged.
Nevertheless, had a good dinner with wums that night, and enjoyed my CNY
March 2018:
Assignments, readings, endless project meetings, presentations, papers.
UTown dinners with friends were my solace.
I specifically remember that day^ 13 Mar. It was super packed- an interview in the morning, some other errands to run in the afternoon and then a project meeting at night. Was clearly a frazzling day cos I bought banana milk which is kind of out of character? LOL not that I don't like it but I almost never buy it
April 2018:
April was a month of last classes and goodbyes. Really a whirlwind of emotions; I've never been close to anyone from NUS Econs but yet it just felt sad to be seeing most of their familiar faces for the last time.
And my laptop screen died after I dropped one fine morning in Week 13. Rushed to wheelock after class and thank God, thanks to some Apple policy they were able to replace it for me for free. Apparently if not for that policy I would have had to pay $800 wth
Crammed for finals for the last time, went to a Forests gig before my last final (yay), and did my pre-morning exam ritual for the last time (bagels and coffee)
May 2018:
FINALLY DONE WITH UNI!!!
And then it was.... unemployment.
May was honestly probably the darkest month of the year
Though it was only a month, sitting at home made me feel super uneasy and a lil depressed thinking about how the days ahead were so uncertain.
My only comfort was planning for my grad trip to Greece & Bulgaria, and hanging out with ET at Eastpoint LOL strangely familiar cos we used to hang out tgt so much at my place and Eastpoint 8 years ago.
But fortunately about 3 days before I flew off, I got an internship offer at a place which sounded pretty decent. It made me really happy that I could go for my grad trip with an ease of mind knowing I at least had something in store when I came back. The only caveat was that the place was at Jurong East
June 2018:
Grad trip!!!
And then it was the start of my internship.
I think I mostly summed it up in one of my recent posts
July 2018:
Just had a random thought about how smokers say smoking is a social activity.
I remember on my first day, the 3 interns were gonna grab coffee, and 1 of them asked me if I wanted to come along. I think that's really how I started talking to them, and before I knew it, post-lunch coffee runs together became a thing.
Other than the internship, only other interesting thing I did this month was to go to JB with uni friends? Was really nice seeing everyone :) always a fun time together!
August 2018:
I finally got a job offer!!!!!!!
All my months of endless worrying came to an end :')
Definitely one of the more significant days of the year thus far.
I also made guacamole, and went to a cool cafe with jiams n iz.
Then I enjoyed my very last week of blissful freedom before I started work in September :/
September 2018:
And... work began! So many mixed feelings :')
I don't think I did much in Sep other than work?? Shitt LOL
Highlight of the month was prolly going to an Intervals concert! Sound sucked, but band was awesome.
October 2018:
Ma birthdayyy. Newbies dont get birthday leave :/
But some of my colleagues did the sweetest thing by surprising me with a cake and a card :')
Pic above taken after watching another gig by my friends at BluJaz.
Seems like this is gonna be my life from now on - work and gigs/hangs on the weekends :/
According to my other pics I also started getting into midwest emo, watching some kdramas here and there, and I also went to ECP for dinner and a stroll with my fam one pretty evening :)
Don't know if I'm biased cos it's my bday month, but October gives great vibes.
Other happenings - ad lib 2018, which was quite dope actually, though I felt super out of place for once. Cannot relate to the kids anymore hahaha
Also tried muay thai cos 3 free trials, but don't think I'll be going back LOL good exp though
November 2018:
And we're midway through Nov!
Went for a forests gig, and... yeah. Prolly the only interesting thing I did this month LOL
This year has been really, really great.
I think it'll always have a special place in my heart cos well, it's the year I graduated and found a job.
Transitioning from a final-year student to an out-of-place intern to finally embarking on a career was tough too.
But I've met so many new people and learned so many things along the way. LOL sounds so cheesy, but it's true!
So thanks, 2018. Now, for Christmas!!!
Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la
