Under the bridge

Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angels
Lonely as I am
Together we cry

So my drummer told me I should listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers because I would "fall in love with bass a hundred times more."

I did, and now I think I'm obsessed.

Everyone in the band is so very extraordinary. Flea is my new idol.

I also wiki-ed the bums out of them, and it was a soap opera. Drugs, drastic line-up changes, drama, broken friendships... Crazy. But I found a new understanding towards their songs.

This week is going to be another tiring week, especially because of the zoo trip on tuesday. I pray all goes well, and that none of the little monsters do anything too damaging.

Gonna take a little hiatus after this week probably, get some rest, read a few books, drink more tea. Then I'll start hunting for another job if the school can't find me another.

Oh yes, I'm most likely going to buy my bass amp this saturday. YASSS. No more air-playing. I hope I can find a Marshall one. Or anything that works, actually. Not picky about sound, but then again who doesn't want an instrument that plays like a dream?

Woohoo, can't wait for thursday to come. (It's my last day)

And now I'm hungry, going to forage in the kitchen. Hope you all have a great week ahead! Shake off those monday blues.

By the way

Standing in line to see the show tonight
And there's a light on
Heavy glow
By the way
I tried to say I'd be there
Waiting for
Dani the girl is singing songs to me
Beneath the marquee of her soul
By the way
I tried to say
I know you
From before

And are still more amused by payphone calls

Andddd it's a Fridayyy! I am so glad this week is over.

Here's a Music Ask before I go eat my salad. Non-music lovers should just skip this haha.

Ok I am currently experiencing some problems with a baby lizard. I chased it under the book cupboard and out of sight, but then I looked down and it had popped its head out from under the cupboard and was timidly staring up at me omg. Creepy. But it's too cute to kill, but at the same time I really want to get rid of it. First world problems. I even considered grabbing it with two fingers and flinging it out the window really fast.

1. What are your 5 favourite songs right now?
I cannot simply choose 5. Ok maybe:
- Adam's Song // Blink-182
- R U Mine // Arctic Monkeys
- Teenage Icon // The Vaccines
- Night Vision // Covette
- Animal I Have Become // Three Days Grace

2. What is the most played song on your iTunes?
Million Dollar Houses // Pierce The Veil

3. What song are you listening to right now?
The Party Song // Blink-182

4. What was the last album you bought?
Rise Against's Appeal To Reason. Not my favourite buy but it's still great.

5. What was the last gig you went to?
Mayday Parade! (ok the creepy lizard just popped its head out from under again and I caught it staring at me. I think it likes me, oh dear.)

6. What song can you not get out of your head?
It varies from day to day. Recently it's been R U Mine.

7. What song do you listen to every day?
Depends.

8. What was the first album you ever bought?
Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys // My Chemical Romance.
It's gold, like everything else they've ever written. I just wish I could still listen to their music without my heart feeling like :'(
I still have the early bird poster up on my wardrobe.

9. What was the last single you downloaded?
Teenage Icon // The Vaccines.

10. Who is your favourite band right now?
Brand New, Green Day or Blink-182, I think. The latter two have so many albums, it's impossible to get tired of them easily.

11. Who is your favourite artist right now?
I don't have one.

12. What is your favourite type of music?
Punk and rock! I don't really like the older types of rock and punk, like they're ok and I listen to some of it but I'm more into the newer bands. I like post-hardcore, punk rock, alternative rock, hard rock, pop punk, emo, hardcore punk (if the screaming is good), some metalcore, a bit of indie punk.

13. In your 25 most played songs what is #10?
The Cali Buds // A Skylit Drive. This band reminds me of JC days because I listened to them all the time in the bus to and from school, and they made me feel loads better on bad days. I especially liked Brian White. His bass playing and screams were epic. But their newer stuff doesn't really impress me, feels like they sold out a little.

14. Quote one of your favourite lyrics.
'You are the smell before rain
You are the blood in my veins'

15. Do you listen to music everyday?
Yes.

Ok bye

!

Wow, I haven't blogged in nearly a week!

Work has made me really busy and tired. I wake up at 5.20am every day to go to school. The little monsters do their work, but they fight a lot and like to swear. I suppose it's children of the new age? Or bad parenting? I feel like it should be illegal for some people to have children. Maybe everyone should be sent for mental and psychological assessment before they can be certified child-safe.

I often think about how I would bring up a child, and sometimes I feel like I would be a bad parent, but then I hear about the parents of some children and I think I would make Mother of the Year.

Anyway, thank God it's Friday tomorrow! I really need a break. Next week I have to bring the little monsters to the zoo. Please pray for my safety.

The haze is coming soon, around June, which really sucks. I want to go on a holiday very badly but all the places I want to go to are expensive and far, and there's no one available to travel with me :(

Met up with dearest Lynchua for dinner yesterday (Ate at Thai Express, the tom yum soup made my throat hurt but fortunately I lived) and she's going on a Tokyo trip that's fully sponsored by her school, wut! Life is no fair :( But I had fun yesterday. We went to Toys 'R' Us to look around. So many cute toys that reminded me of my childhood! #wavesofnostalgia

Also went to Espirit before that and found a really pretty hobo-ish coat, but it was $80! 80 bucks to look like a hobo, yes/no?

And I cannot find a decent pair of sneakers. This sucks. -insert paragraph here about the things I would do if I found the person who stole my beloved Converse)

Bye

?

Thought I ran into you down on the street
Then it turned out to only be a dream

I made a point to burn all of the photographs
She went away and then I took a different path
I remember the face but I can't recall the name
Now I wonder how whatsername has been

Seems that you disappeared without a trace
Did she ever marry old what's-his-face?

I made a point to burn all of the photographs
She went away and then I took a different path
I remember the face but I can't recall the name
Now I wonder how whatsername has been

Favourite Green Day song.

Rally up the demons of my soul

Heeeey. (This makes me laugh, it sounds so trippy.)

Anyways, it's been a good day just lazing around. Sad that this lovely week is drawing to a close and I'll have to go back to my little monsters for another two weeks.

Here's a random 50 questions quiz I got from fuckyeahsurveys.tumblr.com because I've nothing better to do.

1. How many pets do you own?
None at the moment :(

2. What's your least favorite season?
We don't have seasons here but if we did, it'd probably be winter for me.

3. Do you prefer to text or call?
Call, hands down. I am a terrible, terrible texter.

4. Morning or night?
Morning! Definitely a morning person. Up most mornings by 9am and in bed most nights by 11 or 12.

5. Do you like tacos?
Never had one :( Am I missing out?

6. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I think, introvert.

7. What's your favorite desert?
I have no idea if this is a spelling error hahaha. My favourite dessert is ice-cream (I like the common flavours like variations of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) and sometimes hong kong desserts. If it's about my favourite desert... probably the Sahara since it's the only desert I've been to haha.

8. Do you enjoy walks?
Yes I do, if the air is good.

9. Are you a frequent user of Facebook?
I log on sometimes just to read interesting articles but I don't really post anything.

10. Do you watch animated shows still?
Nope.

11. Can you roll your tongue?
Yesh.

12. What's your 'lucky' number?
23, I think.

13. Are you scared of anything?
Of course. I am a huge scaredy cat. Roller-coasters and horror movies are a big no-no. Yesterday I saw a baby cockroach in the kitchen and yelled for my mother.

14. Big mac or big whopper?
No idea. What's the difference?

15. Do you like to play board games?
Yes! But no one wants to play with me :(

16. Are you fond of romantic novels?
Here's the thing about romantic novels, I turn my nose up at them when I see them on shelves and I wouldn't voluntarily read one most of the time, but if I so happen to do pick one up, I can't put it back down.

17. Fruitloops or cocopops?
Never had either but I would probably say cocopops, since I hated fruit cereals as a kid.

18. Would you eat a live spider for one million dollars?
EUUGH. How big is said spider?

19. Are you a heavy drinker?
Nah, I rarely drink, and I usually don't drink much when I do.

20. Would you forgive someone for cheating?
I don't know.

21. Are you superstitious?
Not really. I believe in God, but that's about it.

22. Have you seen A Clockwork Orange?
Nope.

23. Do you like to read?
Yes! Nothing better than a good book.

24. Are you easily distressed?
Not really.

25. Do you believe in aliens?
Yeah. Probably not the freaky multiple-eyed, multiple-limbed things they draw up in movies, but I do believe there is life on planets outside of our solar system.

26. If you were the last person alive besides one other person you get to choose, who would it be?
My mom.

27. Dogs or cats?
Dogs! I love cats too, but, dogs.

28. Are you a grumpy person?
Not really. I tend to be more sad than grumpy.

29. What's something you hate?
Pop music.

30. Are you a worry wart?
Refer to Q24.

31. Do you like having your picture taken?
I'm okay with it.

32. Do you like cotton candy?
Not much.

33. Would you ever use a dating site?
Well, desperate times would call for desperate measures... haha. Jk, I don't think so.

34. Do you believe in ghosts?
This topic makes me nervous but yeah I guess I do.

35. Rap or pop?
Rock and punk.

36. What's the weirdest flavor of ice-cream you've tried?
Coconut, I think. But it was very good.

37. Do you like math?
Yes.

38. Are you the type of person to laugh at others' misfortune?
Depends. If people trip on flat ground or their voices crack, I tend to laugh. If they did something to deserve the bad luck, I laugh. If not, then I don't.

39. Love or lust?
Love. How long can lust last? (Hey it rhymes, sorta.)

40. Do you remember lyrics easily?
Yeah.

41. What was/is your favorite school subject?
English. It was the only thing I was good at and you never had to study much for it.

42. Do you like tattoos?
Yes. But not just any meaningless tattoo, like I don't think it's nice to get a sleeve just for the sake of it. I love Frank Iero's tattoos.

43. Are you the type of person to lie?
Bad question. Of course, who would lie if they could help it?

44. Do you eat porridge for breakfast?
Nope, but only because we don't have good porridge around here and I'm too lazy to try to cook my own.

45. What music are you listening to right now?
The Sound of Madness, full album by Shinedown. It's very good.

46. Are you allergic to anything?
Nope.

47. Do you like Lady Gaga?
Not a fan of her music but she seems a decent person for a pop star.

48. What about Nicki Minaj?
Let's not go there.

49. Do you like rainy days?
Only if I'm staying home for that day.

50. Last question, do you like pie?
I guess so?

Yay finally done.

Nobody likes you when you're twenty-three

Why I love Blink-182:

They just write their lyrics the way they think they should be, and everything's very to-the-point, neat and concise. For example, a few lines from Dysentery Gary:

F**k you all
I lost the war
I hate this place
Your mom's a whore

(There's worse language in some of their songs, this is just the tip of the iceberg.)

And then there is Adam's Song, which is somewhat a song about a suicide note.

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months, I'll be unknown
Give all my things to my friends
You'll never step foot in my room again
You'll close the door, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled
the cup of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

Another reason why I love Enema of the State- they put probably the happiest song on the record (All The Small Things) right after Adam's Song.

And yes, most of their songs basically just have the same melodic structure and the same four chords, just in different keys (or sometimes the same). There are no well-crafted guitar solos (there are barely any guitar solos, actually) or intricate licks or Muse-style basslines, but I think that's what makes them so special. They have great lyrics, like they never ever hold back on something they want to say, but their songs are also fun and catchy and fast and just... pop punk.

It's great. I love Blink.

Oh boy, look what I found.

It's my J1 class timetable, still colourfully highlighted.

I love finding things like these, they make me remember stuff I thought I forgot but that was actually just hiding in the back of my mind.

Now, let's see. I can't recall much about Mondays. Oh, but I do remember getting let out earlier than most of the class because some of us didn't take MTL. (Thank God for scraping through and getting a B3 for Chinese back in secondary school)

Tuesdays and Thursdays were 'late days' and back in the earlier half of the year when the enthusiasm levels were still high, some of us would go out for Macs breakfasts together.

If my memory hasn't failed me, Tuesdays were also my favourite days to skip school.

Wednesdays were terrible! Awfully packed, so we ended early, but that was only so we could have CCA for the afternoons (and sometimes the evenings). Math lectures first thing in the morning with Ms. OBS. She was a very memorable lady.

Our only break for that day was half an hour, but after that was four consecutive hours of lessons, and the painful thing was the E block, where our homeroom was located, was so far away from the canteen.

Our then Chemistry tutor, Ms. Khoo, was extremely unhappy that we were always turning up late for chem, sometimes with a drink in hand.

One time, she made those who were late stand outside. We ended up playing games since we were locked out with nothing to do.

Thursdays were lazy days.

Fridays were dress-down days. Also good days since the few of us who were excused from MTL would have a two-hour break. Most of the time we just used to it eat really slowly and play games in the canteen. Sometimes some of our MTL classmates would skip class to come down and hang for a while.

So yeah. I do miss E209, it was the only homeroom we had since we somehow didn't have a homeroom in J2, and it was a good homeroom. There was an air-con too haha, an extra perk for those classes lucky enough to be assigned the E block classrooms.

JC sounds so fun now that I've done a rough recap on it. But then again, all of that was just J1. Not mentioned in this entry were the late nights (ok maybe not for me, I could never keep a late night) spent studying for tests and exams, and the pressure, and CCA.

There were good times and there were bad times, and some of the bad times were really bad, for me.

But oh well, I guess you make the best out of every situation.

Cobain, can you hear the spheres singing songs off station to station?

Hello, hump day!

It's a Wednesday, the most awkward day of the week. Was supposed to run some errands today but I'm lazy and have left most of the list untouched.

Just finished my daily three rounds of Hasee Bounce and now I've nothing to do.

Yesterday I visited Tania at Ritazza Cafe at the Airport! Yes she's working there now. I used to study there occasionally. So it felt weird going there with a laptop and papers to mark instead of books in my bag. But a good feeling, nonetheless!

Nearly fell asleep marking my papers. Then I watched this movie called The Kids Are All Right. It was very good! It's about an unconventional family made up of gay couple Nic and Jules, and their two children, an 18-year-old girl named Joni and a 15-year-old boy, Laser.

Joni is Nic's biological daughter and Laser is Jules' biological son. However, they share the same father, who was a sperm donor. So Joni and Laser are half-siblings. Laser asks Joni to help him find their biological father, since she's turned 18 and legally able to do so.

So they manage to find him (I forgot his name) and yeah, it triggers off a sequence of events. Go watch it. According to Wiki, it was 'universally acclaimed' by critics.

Laser is also played by Josh Hutcherson, and he was absolutely dreamy. I don't think he was actually 15 in the movie, he looked older than that.

Ok just Googled, he was 18 in the movie. And Mia Wasikowska, who played Joni, was 21 in the movie. She had super pretty long blonde hair in the movie, I was just staring at her hair throughout. And maybe her face. She somehow reminds me of Claire Danes.

Anyhow, I found bass tabs for Californication, so goodbye

Contenders

Hello.

Semi-finals was fun. Don't think we'll make it to finals honestly, competition is tough, but it was fun nonetheless. Got to watch some interesting bands too. I felt a lot more relaxed cause we were the first band to play (might be because we registered first) so we got it done and over with early. We played American Idiot and were one of the very few cover bands. Almost everyone else did originals, which personally, I thought was quite unexpected.

We were a four-man band for today and only met up yesterday, so one band asked, "So how long have you guys been a band?" And we said, "One day" and I think they didn't really believe us hahaha.

Ah that's all for today. Can't stop coughing but just had my syrup so hopefully I'll be almost fully recovered tomorrow.

Night

Longing for the shore

1. 90% sure my Converse got stolen. They're not anywhere to be found at all. I hate thiefs and I really don't understand them at all. How can you feel good knowing you stole something from someone? I really loved those shoes. I hope whoever took them burns in hell.

2. Semi-finals are tomorrow! We practised just now and it was one of the best jamming sessions I ever had. Like I had fun and we actually sounded decent. Best part? We didn't know semi-finalists got two hours in the studio free. Heh heh heh.

Starlight

Guten morgen.

Took leave today and am now resting at home because my throat is killing me. Darned haze. And darned little monsters, always running about and making me yell. I don't recall being that wild as a child!

And the cough syrup bottle says "May cause drowsiness." Which really sucks because how am I supposed to get anything done if I'm partially in La-la Land the whole day? :(

Alright, done whining.

My band got into semi-finals! Surprise surprise. Not quite sure what happened, at first they said one of the other bands didn't fufill a requirement so they asked us if we wanted to take their place. Then they said they were extending the list of bands. So idk. But anyway, we're in, we're in!

Going to practice later. But won't be able to sing backup thanks to my throat :(

Gonna play Neopets now ahaha bye

Tidal waves couldn't save the world from Californication

1000th post! This is truly a milestone. Hard to think I've been writing a blog for about six years now. As I always say, where does the time go? Sometimes I read my archives and it's funny to see how my writing changes through the years. From annoying 13-year-old to when I was going through my fangirl phase to my emo phase then to my stressed-out-about-school phase and so on.

But yeah, 1000 posts. Wow, that's a lot.

The haze has given me a cough. And it's irritating my eyes. Sigh.

It's been a great three-day weekend!

On Friday there was the signing session with Mayday Parade at a cafe in Lasalle. I initially wanted to go, I even bought a white marker so they could sign my black Washburn, but somehow in the end I didn't really feel like going. It's funny because I was so stoked for it at first! I think it was the slightly lackluster concert. Like, it was good, great even, but it just kind of felt like something was missing. If only All Time Low or Pierce The Veil had a signing session when they came. I still love Mayday Parade's music though, of course!

In the evening, I met Shijia and we went to TPJ in our pe attire. It felt kind of nostalgic :) We saw Ali too, and had a great ketchup sesh. Stood at a spot next to the bleachers and chatted till the sun went down haha. I miss the J1 days with Ali :( Good luck for your A levels buddy!

Then SJ and I headed to Lum's house for a sleepover! It was fun hahaha. Brought my laptop and we watched a bit of About Time (is that the title?) then the sound was too soft so we decided to switch. Youtubed and chatted about random things and finally brushed our teeth and slept at 1+. Alarm went off at 7.30am and we went to Block 201 for Macs breakfast. (Again, now I slightly miss the good old days when we had school late and would go to Macs for breakfast)

In the late afternoon, I met with the band and we went for an audition for this small competition. I was really kancheong because I was late and while we were preparing I accidentally dropped my bass on my right foot. There's a big balaku there now. Yowch.

Audition was ok. I think we were good for a band that only practised once together. Hahaha. Don't think we made it to the next round though.

Anyway, gotta go. It's a Monday tomorrow :( Bluez. Lots of marking to do when I get back tomorrow because I was so busy last week. But only one more week of work! Yay

Have a good week ahead guys.

I am heaven sent
Don't you dare forget
I am all you've ever wanted
What all the other boys all promised
Sorry I told
I just needed you to know
I think in decimals and dollars
I am the cause to all your problems
Shelter from cold
We are never alone
Coordinate brain and mouth
Then ask me what it's like to have myself so figured out

I wish I knew.

Call me a safe bet / I'm betting I'm not

End of the most busy week of 2014 so far.

Monday was the day.

I didn't do as well as I expected. Up till now, I can't decide whether to feel sad or happy with my results. At first I was sad and I burst into tears when I saw my grades, then in the afternoon that day I felt better, then at night I went home and was emo again. The cycle repeated itself for the next few days.

I think it's like, compared to what I should've been expecting from my O level score, I performed better than I probably should have, but compared to how I've been doing for the past two years, I definitely underperformed. I'm most disappointed with Math and PW.

I know we got PW a long time back, but I still die a little inside everytime I think of that stupid B plus the fact that I'm the only one in my group who got a B. And Math, I was banking so hard on an A. Thinking about it though, I guess I've made the most improvement in Math out of all my subjects. I was a straight U-grader for the first half of the year in J1 even though I really did try, then I managed to get an overall D for Math at the end of the year, and finally a B for Prelims. But, still. :(

And the worst part is knowing everyone else expected so much better from you. My parents, my teachers, my classmates.

But nevermind about that.

My mom seems happy enough about it anyway. She said that day that she should've had two daughters. I asked why, and she said, "Then both will be like you." And I was like awww.

Tuesday, I met up with a new band. I met their guitarist online and it was my first time meeting up with all of them. Glad to say they seem like good-natured people and they play well. The drummer said I play bass well and complimented my harmonies -insert suitable emoticon here-

We jammed First Date - Blink-182, All The Small Things and American Idiot. We intended to jam I Don't Care - Apocalyptica as well but none of us really prepared it, so. It was a good jamming sesh.

Wednesday, I went home after work.

Thursday was Mayday Parade's concert! I have to admit though, I personally think they sounded the least amazing out of the three concerts I've seen. Pierce The Veil and All Time Low had a lot more energy, great playing and connection with the crowd.

What I love about concerts is the freedom to move around and party to your favourite music. Everything pre-show gives you a great feeling- the background music, surrounded by people who love the same band, even the gum-chewing, bored-looking security.

And the thing with concerts is once you're inside, there is no such thing as a personal circle. There will be arms touching arms, chests against backs, shoulders bumping other shoulders and feet trampling on other feet.

So yesss. They played You Be The Anchor and Jersey!!! No The End, though. And there was Miserable At Best and Stay :') Miserable At Best was just such a classic. Encore was I'd Hate To Be You When You Find Out What This Song Is About (couldn't help but compare the one-song encore to All Time Low when they played 3 songs for their encore haha).

I was also very restless before the concert and couldn't wait to get the opening band over and done with, but they were actually really good. Singer looked high. Drummer was beastly. They're called Aspectrum, gonna check them out later.

Off to mark some papers I took home. Buh-bye

Sunday, March 2, 2014

Hey, Jude

It's a lovely, humid Sunday evening.

Just had my dinner, finished playing my daily three rounds of Hasee Bounce and plans for tonight got cancelled so I'm just sitting here.

Tomorrow is the big day.

I was thinking hard about it as I slurped my spaghetti and I honestly felt like throwing up. Suddenly I could clearly remember that day in Jan 2011. Sitting in the hall in my school uniform, watching all the top scorers and their As flash on the screen, holding tight to my friends, my heart pumping like crazy, undecided on whether I wanted to cry or puke. Then I got my results and it was like... Nope. Haha.

My mentality in secondary school was this: I am from a prestigious school, therefore I don't really have to worry about O levels. I was more interested in hanging out with friends and creating trouble than pushing myself for those good grades. Of course, I studied, but I'd be lying if I said I put in my very best for all my exams in AHS.

It was really a wake-up call when I got my O level results. It was such a diverse range of grades. I got A1s for English and Emath, an A2 for Amath and Bs and Cs for everything else. I went into a mini phase of depression for the next few days, and I told myself, no more fooling around. I'm going to shut myself off from all distractions for the next two years, have as few friends as I possibly can and study really hard.

But of course, JC doesn't work that way. I still had friends, and me being me, I got distracted sometimes. But I guess going to a neighbourhood JC sort of worked because my mindset changed. Now it was the other way round. Every time I did well for a test or exam, I told myself that it was nothing because I was from a shitty JC, and that people from other schools were probably still ten times smarter than me and would ultimately do ten times better than me in the A levels.

I have made great friends in JC and these two years have had its ups and downs, but it's been a good trip. I don't think I'll ever feel proud of my JC, and I guess that's kinda sad, but I'll just have to get over it. I still feel embarrassed whenever I have to tell people what JC I was from. Probably just pride, since I'm Teochew. Hahaha.

Tomorrow I'll get my grades, and I'm not gonna lie and say I'll be content with whatever I have because I tried my best. I actually don't know why people find comfort with saying 'It's ok because I tried my best.' Whenever people say that to me, I feel even worse because clearly my best was not enough, and I'll be like, well, I guess that means I'm stupid and will be for life.

Good for me if I do well, but if I don't, I'll just have to accept that I can't study.

So, off to listen to some Brand New.

Good luck and big hugs to all who are heading to their JCs for the last official time tomorrow!!! Here's some love from me!

You are the smell before rain

Anddd it's the end of another week. The week actually passed pretty quickly. And I've been talking about the upcoming week for quite some time now, and it's finally here. Scary how time flies.

Speaking of which, it's 1 March today! Wow. Are we really into the third month of 2014 already? I was also anticipating hearing the church bells at 12pm. I love the sound of it.

Had a great time with L and T last night. We had bkt dinner at Song Fa (which was yumz) and bought drinks and camped by Clarke Quay. I had coffee and they had alcohol. Beer with 7up tastes really good!

Today I woke up with the great feeling of knowing I have nothing to do. Which kinda got old after half an hour on Neopets (Fun fact: I've accumulated 43,000 NP!).

Then I turned on the TV and found a really good movie called Murder By Numbers. It's about two detectives (mainly Sandra Bullock) who have to outsmart two serial killer teenagers.

With a cast like Sandra Bullock, Ryan Gosling and Michael Pitt, you know you can't go wrong. Ryan Gosling's character, Richard, was handsome and wealthy, but dangerous. He sort of emotionally blackmailed his partner-in-crime, Michael Pitt's character Justin, to make use of his intelligence.

Justin had all the plans and the carefully thought-out crime details. He was a genius with the forensics, but unlike Richard, he felt guilty when he murdered, and puked.

Their relationship is also really interesting. They had a boathouse on a cliff in which they created a makeshift shrine for themselves, and their own secret oath.

Then there is the visual aspect. Ryan Gosling is tall, lean and blonde, dons a red leather jacket for most of the film, and he does the perfect creepy smile, leer, careless stroll and lazy, accented drawl.

Michael Pitt had the best serial killer face I've ever seen in a movie. Green eyes, terse mouth, dirty blonde hair parted in the centre. He has this aura.

Ending part was also awesome. If you like slightly dark movies with complex characters, then this is it.

Ok bye, off to youtube
