ITS FOUR DAYS TO CHRISTMAS!!
and i guess it took having a baby for me to blog only twice a year lol
i have rly been procrastinating on blogging, clearly. so much has happened this year! overall, i somehow feel the oldest i've ever felt. like me saying i felt old at 21? or 25? nothing compared to how it feels now. guess it's to do with turning 30 (omg), mothering a growing, lively toddler, hearing more about health scares than i ever have, and a sense of growing a bit more distant from my friends while spending more time with my parents who aren't getting any younger. and i guess the last bit definitely has a lot to do with the lively toddler.
highlights of the year:
1. okay not rly a highlight, but fell sick so. much. like every other month at the minimum. i never thought i would use up all 14 days of my annual MC... the bug i had in october might have been the worst. in fact october this year was a whirlwind of a month. celebrated my birthday, but fell deathly ill soon after, but fortunately recovered in time to attend wq's wedding, and flew off to seoul that night for a 10-day trip with my parents! thanks sherwin for taking on the parenting responsibilities 💓
2. which brings me to my next highlight, took a trip with my parents to korea! it was my dad's first time in korea and unfortunately he was not impressed altho he was a good sport on the trip, i didn't even know he felt negatively about anyth lol after the trip he said he wouldn't revisit korea cos the food didn't wow him. i guess korea is more of a girls' holiday destination - k-beauty, cute cafes, shopping, photobooths, etc. but it was a good trip for me - 4th time in seoul but first time to busan which i enjoyed altho the food in busan wasn't my thing, and also i rly felt recharged after the trip. sometimes holidays make you feel even more tired after coming back. prolly had something to do with the cold weather which i love!! always wish sg was 10deg colder.
3. visited japan for the first time! this was with sherwin, bernice and sherwin's friends. the weather during this trip was almost sg-like, and this was in late sep, when i started feeling sick and had fever for 2 nights. didn't help that our room, like in most japanese hotels, was v small so bernice kept getting into everything which was v tiring, and the beds and pillows were soooo uncomfy. also, we went to osaka and kyoto. while i loved kyoto, osaka felt super crowded and like just another big city. the cleanliness and the amazing food everywhere are unparalleled though, so i will definitely be back to japan! oh in fact i've alr booked our next trip in march hahaha.
4. watched the cab live! i actually bought tickets for their first show on 10 dec. didn't know that sherwin wanted to help get us tickets (he doesn't listen to them, it's just me) but their first show sold out, so he got the tickets when they added a second show on 11 dec. he only told me like in october that he got us tickets haha. so i thought i was gonna see the cab 2 times, but i fell sick a few days before and had to miss my 10 dec show to sleep. so lucky he got the 11 dec tickets! had a blast at the concert :) but was pretty much alone cos funny guy just stood at the side the entire show cos he didn't wanna block ppl. he got VIP tickets too, but i was lazy and awkward to meet the band, so we left after the last encore song. overall it was great, except that they played the song i rly wanted them to play (vegas skies) but it was quite half-assed :( the rest were good tho.
5. not sure if rly worth mentioning but just saw n remembered while scrolling thru my photo gallery for inspo that i had my first tooth filling ever this year haha. hopefully the last. it started with pain in the right side of my jaw, and when i finally went to the dentist they said if i had delayed some more my cavity could have hit a nerve and i would have to do a root canal op omg. so rly thank goodness it was just a filling.
6. most of my highlights this year are rly with bernice, watching her grow and explore the world - literally cos we travelled so many times this year with her - is like seeing everything through brand new eyes. looking forward to the trips we have planned for 2026! :) slowly training her for the long-haul journeys to US/europe someday hehe
oooo okay i guess it was not a v happening year, esp compared to 2025. but getting older means i rly appreciate the quiet moments when life is so hectic.
looking forward to the christmas and end-year celebrations and festive spirit 💓 and soon it will be CNY again!
wishing everyone happy holidays and an amazing 2026!!!
