I am soooooooo hungry. Ate nothing all day but cereal because I'm too lazy to go downstairs to buy food and there's nothing to eat at home. I crave something savoury :(
This has been one of the most unproductive weekends ever, I think after prelims I just kinda lost it. Meh. Seriously need to pull up my socks. Although I'm barefoot right now. (lame)
I HEAR THE RICE COOKER GOING OFF OMG THAT MEANS DINNER IS READY
Should I go out after dinner? I'm kind of craving a pastry. Or two. Like the spinach and mushroom iforgotwhat from Starbucks.
39 days to the start of As, shit just got real.
I can't wait for another 58 days so I can finally have fun without feeling guilty as hell. I can go overseas and do all sorts of crazy things and no one will care!!! Also, still wondering if I should get a job. I need the money but... do I really want to spend a precious seven months working my butt off? Hmm
I already have a mini to-do list for post-As haha
Ok I'm going to venture out to look for food
Bye

Not much, how bout you?
1. Sleepy and tired, tired and sleepy
2. I got back my chem paper 2 yesterday and it was a E and I felt like shit over it, plus I got a D for GP (but that was pretty expected) so I went home and had a good cry about it and gorged on milk chocolate with almonds. Then I went back to school today still feeling trashy, and discovered I got decent enough marks for my Papers 1 and 3 to pull my overall grade for my chem prelims up to a B. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
3. I felt loads better though when Sj came over halfway during chem yesterday and made me laugh over random things, though she wasn't doing it on purpose. Thanks bby :)
4. I kinda feel like PhotoBooth-ing but I don't wanna give you guys nightmares. Been a rough week y'see.
5. Every day feels like a monday. :(
6. As of 27th sep, it's 42 days to the start, 61 till the end. Omg exactly 6 weeks to the start. It's terrifying.
7. Good night all xo

And it's become so clear why heaven called your name
PRELIMS ARE OVERRRRRRRR
Ahahahahahhahahahahaa
I am SUPER tired right now, but there's still school tomorrow. Our H1 physics P1 ended at 9am, so a group of us went to roam around. Spent a lot on food and the movie we watched- don't even feel like counting it. Oh and I snuck in to my first M18 movie (The Millers) yay. The first and last time I snuck in to a movie was the NC16 Limitless, if I'm not wrong.
The Millers was kind of disappointing, like it was funny at some parts I guess but it was awfully cheesy and crude and had way too many sick scenes for my liking. (maybe all M18 movies are like that idk) Was also kind of shocked by how different my sense of humour is from the general audience.
I know I have a very weird sense of humour but I was literally chuckling to myself at lots of parts that nobody else was laughing at, and then there was this scene where they were playing charades and Kenny drew a skateboard and Rose yelled 'Omg I know, it's a big black dick!' And everyone was laughing their heads off but I didn't find it funny at all. That is bad
I was actually thinking, it'd be nice if Lianne was here because I know she'd laugh at all these things with me hahaha (are you touched Lianne)
But yeah.
My head's spinning, possibly because I just listened to Cinema by Skrillex (bass boosted). The bass is just crazy, my brain just feels really weird right now. I was hesitating over whether to ask my class on my WhatsApp group if anybody else listened to Skrillex because I don't know anyone else who does and I wanted to ask if it was normal, and in the end I just thought heck, just send it, so I did, and nearly no one replied haha it was really awkward. -reclines further into little world-
Quick confession, I think this is my least favourite class out of all the classes I've been in hahaha (maybe second least, after 2K'09) like I really cannot fully click with anyone. It's kind of sad really but oh well main goal's still As right
Wow will you look at the time. Haha ok I know it's only 11pm but I like to sleep early and anyway there's school tomorrow (feels really weird going back to school after almost a month of exams) so
Good night x

Do You Speak English?
Do You Speak English?
Manuel had passed the fish on his way up the road. It was eighteen to twenty inches long and its silvery scales were covered with dirt. The gill flaps opened like two gash wounds on the sides of its head as it thrashed helplessly in the gutter. Next to it a boy leaned against the railings, his rod and line dangling out over the floating garbage and the stream of brown, stinking waste which trickled from a pipe in the wall below. The boy wore a faded pair of football shorts. He was perhaps nine or ten years old, barefoot and grubby, and his skin was marked with insect bites.
The fish gasped, then made one last convulsive leap, throwing itself in the direction of the river, and landed on the pavement with a thud. There it lay motionless for a moment, exhausted no doubt by the effort. The boy looked down at it, turned and kicked it back into the gutter.
Manuel had not paid much attention to the fish as he was preoccupied. He had just been to look at an apartment and he was considering how he could afford the rent. Accommodation was hard to find in the city and a place like this didn't come up very often. The apartment he and his wife were currently living in was so small their six-year-old son had to live with his wife's parents during the week. They had been trying to move for two years. He took out a cigarette and leaned against the railing, looking down the street at the boy fishing.
Further along the quay two figures were approaching. He watched as they wandered slowly towards him. They looked to be in their early thirties and were obviously tourists, Americans he would guess. The woman had shoulder-length reddish hair and pale freckled skin. She was slim and athletic looking. Her partner was tall and flabby, his stomach protruding from under his T-shirt. He wore knee-length shorts, sunglasses and his long hair was tied in a pony tail. They came slowly along the dusty street of warehouses. Tourists were not uncommon in the city but they usually kept to the old port with its rococo churches and stately customs house, or took the organized cruises along the reef. It was rare to see them in this district and Manuel assumed they were lost.
< 2 >
‘Look at the poor thing,' said the woman, stopping beside the fish, which lay where the boy had kicked it, probably now gasping its last breaths. She spoke with a lazy, nasal drawl. The boy had not turned around but he had noticed their presence. He stared fixedly across the glittering surface of the water towards the lines of washing in the narrow streets on the opposite bank, waiting for them to go.
‘It ought to be thrown back,' the woman was saying. ‘Do you think he wants it?' She turned to her companion who shrugged. He looked nervous.
‘I don't like the look of this neighborhood,' he said. ‘I think we should get back.' But the woman wasn't going to let it pass. She stood there looking from the fish to the boy and back again.
‘You could try asking him,' the man said. The woman stepped around the fish and approached the boy, who was still looking out across the river. The child's body tensed as the woman came up to him.
‘Do you know that fish is dying?' Manuel heard her ask. The boy looked up at her blankly and then shook his head. ‘Dy-ing,' she repeated, drawing out each syllable, but the boy remained dumb, uncomprehending. He fidgeted awkwardly with his feet.
‘I don't think he understands,' said the woman to her partner. The man shrugged as if to say ‘I told you we shouldn't get involved'. She looked around for assistance and noticed Manuel watching her. She stared at him for a moment, taking in the cream-coloured linen suit, the shoes. She was obviously unsure what to make of him.
‘Do you speak English?' she asked, this time with a more respectful tone than she had used with the boy. Manuel said that he did but in a voice which gave her no reason to expect his help. She held his gaze for a few moments.
‘Can you ask this boy what he means to do with the fish? It seems so cruel, it ought to be thrown back.' He looked across at the boy and then at the woman. He wondered if he should tell her about the kind of life this boy led, about the squalid shacks down by the beach from where he had probably come that morning, about the parents struggling to make ends meet. Two days earlier he had read in the local paper about a fishing community a few miles up the coast which was being evicted to make way for a new hotel. The boy was watching them anxiously.
< 3 >
‘Esta senhora quer saber o que voce vai fazer com o peixe,' he said to the boy. He treated the boy gently, with consideration. The boy wiped a dirty hand across one eye and looked at Manuel.
‘E para vender,' he responded.
‘He intends to sell it,' he told the woman. He tried to make his answer sound final, as though that was the end of the matter. The woman hesitated, perhaps uncertain how to interpret the lack of encouragement in his voice. Manuel observed her confusion. Her eyes searched his face as though looking for some clue. Her companion shifted nervously behind her.
‘Honey, I think we should go,' he said. But the woman ignored him. He shuffled uncomfortably. ‘You know I really don't think you should interfere.'
‘How much does the boy want for the fish?' the woman asked. Manuel glanced at her companion with his stooped shoulders and useless bulk. The woman's determination amused him but he did not smile.
‘A senhora quer comprar o peixe. Quanto e?' The boy named a price which was five times what he would have got for it locally. His expression was deadpan. Only a slight clenching of his right hand betrayed the tension he was probably feeling. Manuel told her the price, adopting the same tone of voice with which he had addressed her previously, but this time he could not help smiling. She seemed to interpret this as friendliness. She opened her purse and took out some money, peeling off a note of twice the value the boy had asked.
‘Does he have any change?' she asked.
Manuel translated. Again the boy's right hand twitched slightly but otherwise his face wore the same expression of innocence it had before. He shook his head. The woman hesitated for a moment and looked across at the fish. Then she held out the note to the boy who took it. She stooped down, picked the fish up carefully between forefinger and thumb and threw it into the river. Without looking at either Manuel or the boy she turned to her companion and they went on up the road together. The man produced a handkerchief and offered it to the woman to wipe her fingers but she refused it. They appeared to be arguing. The boy stood holding the note. His expression had hardly changed. Manuel watched the couple until they disappeared out of sight. They did not once look back. He lit another cigarette and returned to his former position against the railings.
< 4 >
The fish had not survived its lengthy time out of the water and was now floating amidst the debris a few feet out from the bank, washed in against the shore by the backward eddy of the current. The boy climbed over the railings and down onto a ledge just above the water line. He began dragging the dead fish towards him with a stick. When it was finally within reach he caught hold of it and tossed it up onto the road. As he clambered over the railings he grinned at Manuel. The boy gathered up his rod and the fish and set off up the street. Manuel watched him while he finished his cigarette. Then he threw the butt down into the dirty water and made his way back the way he had come.
The fish gasped, then made one last convulsive leap, throwing itself in the direction of the river, and landed on the pavement with a thud. There it lay motionless for a moment, exhausted no doubt by the effort. The boy looked down at it, turned and kicked it back into the gutter.

Dream
I had this really weird dream. Like it kind of made sense but didn't make sense at the same time. But it felt so real it was pretty scary.
Ok so I dreamt I was this person living in a small town in Russia with my two sisters and our father. My sisters were both blonde but I was a brunette, and we all looked about the same age. Life was simple and happy until there was a sudden invasion from an authoritarian governement, and at the same time there was an outbreak of a strange disease that would turn people mad and cause their appearance to change drastically. They would look dreadful.
We left our house because it was no longer safe, and moved into this small shack somewhere else. There were a lot of strange things happening, like in one scene we were somehow at a large, extremely packed outdoor stadium, possibly to listen to our new dictator speak, but it was funny cause everyone was just crammed together and we were all facing one direction. Then amidst the noise, our father pointed to something way above us, around the corner of the stadium (I don't really know how to describe it but it was just high up but not in the air).
There was a bunch of strange-looking creatures playing with water (don't ask me how is there water) and they looked like beavers cross-bred with some other animal to look the size of hippotamuses. Think maybe capybaras from the Amazon but at least three or four times bigger. There were babies too and they were just taking turns jumping into the water from a great height.
Our father explained that he believed it was evolution and the disease was even affecting our animals as well. In another scene, we were in a large field playing and spending family time together. There were other families too. The field was fenced up, and as one of my sisters and I wandered to the quiet far end of the field, further away from everyone else, our father called us back and told us it was very important we stay together and not go off exploring on our own.
Somewhere along the way we lost our father, and my sisters and I were depressed and would bicker over the slightest things. One of my sisters became very withdrawn and strange, and would scream at us. She started having skin problems and as she left the room after one fight, my other sister looked at me and we both somehow knew she was infected.
The sister who left said she was going back to our old house to live, and we didn't try to stop her. I told the other sister who stayed in the shack that I was going back as well, just to get some things, and then I left with the first sister.
We were silent as she did her own things, but I was secretly packing up my belongings.
I met with some old friends that I used to run a cafe with before the invasion and outbreak, and we walked down the street together. We stopped at the cafe that we used to own, and looked at how dilapidated and rundown it had become.
As we turned away, I thought, maybe I could start over... I was thinking of the changes I could make to the place and somehow I was thinking of the words 'coffee with cream' when my mom woke me up.
Very interesting dream

Cause real life just isn't right, let's get away
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mlYii4F1EE
Us crazy people at the All Time Low concert 6th March 2013 singing our hearts out (and warming up those vocals) to Blink-182's All The Small Things, pre-show. Love this video omg it totally captures how I was feeling. There's nothing better than standing in a crowd full of people who know the words to one of your favourite pop-punk songs. And nothing better than a lovely crowd that can sing. It just gets me.
Aneewayza.
I'M DONE WITH ALL MY PRELIM PAPERS EXCEPT FOR MY H2 CHEM MCQ PAPER AND H1 PHYSICS MCQ PAPER WOOHOOOOOOOO
I feel like I've stepped over another major milestone in my life haha but seriously. I'm almost done with my A level prelim exams. And soon we'll be taking A levels itself... 7 weeks to As omg. How is that even possible? I swear it feels like May was just yesterday and I was telling myself to 'hang in there, just six more long, torturous months to go till the end...' and BAM it's just less than 2 months away already.
So today I'm taking a break since we have four whole days to study for chem and physics heh. I seriously need a break, I've been dreadfully tired ever since tuesday when we had H2 Math P1 and H2 Econs P2. Thank the Lord for Brand's essence and caffeine.
Lianne is badass LOL her bio prelim mcq paper is tomorrow and she went shopping with me today. Yes after my chem paper ended at 4pm I chionged home to get some moolah before going to meet her at Orchard.
We had Soup Spoon for dinner, then window-shopped and then ate ice-cream. My sweet-stuff craving is still not satisfied because the ice-cream wasn't sweet enough :( and now I am SUPER HUNGRY.
Ok bye off to find food. And I've been youtubing ever since I came home and showered omg youtube is so addictive

I was sixteen, he was twenty-one
I was born in the wagon of a travelling show
My mama used to dance for the money they'd throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of Dr. Good
Gypsies, tramps and thieves
We hear it from the people of the town
They call us gypsies, tramps and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Love old songs. From time to time I still break out into this song randomly. Grew up listening to only old classics on the radio- my dad hated (still hates) modern pop songs and refused to ever let us change the station. Come to think of it, it was a good thing though.
Prelims, prelims.
Left with Chem Paper 3 this week, then Chem P1 and Physics P1 next week. I'm soooo tired and I don't even know why. I've been sleeping early the past few days, like around latest 11pm every night. But I nearly couldn't wake up for my math paper today. Gah.
(edit)
My mom just walked in on me partying to Billy Joel, how awkward.

14. Long bus rides on an empty bus
15. Good cafes
- That was so tumblr-ish.
- But I am starting to feel the exam jitters and I just really wanted to blog to get rid of them.
- I really am horrible. I have chem, econs and math papers spanning the next three days but here I am. Ugh.

Feeling a little out of form today.

Could ask my twin to go with me too.

It's all about you
1. Was reading up on lists of pets allowed in Singapore and in HDB flats and everything is so... Gah. I can't have a labrador or anything, just small dogs like why would I want a terrier or a jack russell? They're so small and attention-seeking and annoying
And no cats allowed in HDB flats at all. And no reptiles or amphibians allowed in Singapore at all ughhh there goes my boa constrictor. (I'm half-kidding)
This place sucks
2. Been having a bunch of tunes from musicals stuck in my head, especially from Grease and Oliver Twist and Jesus Christ Superstar. Help
3. I don't really know when I started liking hot beverages. Was enjoying my hot milo just now and thinking how I suddenly feel old. Hot tea, hot milo... soon I'll be guzzling hot coffee Gerard-Way-style, having a hundred cats and knitting sweaters.
4. I am running out of my favourite strawberry gum this is disastrous I need to ask my tutor when he's making his next trip to Malaysia (or will any kind soul offer to help me?)
5. Happy Friday the 13th ninnnypoopies!
6. Ooh The Maine was today. I can just imagine all the kiddies trudging back home still giddy from the gig. Oh how I miss that feeling of going to a concert. Post-concert depression sucks though. Here's a virtual hug for any The Maine fan who needs it.
7. My eyes are half-open as we speak, so sorry if nothing really makes sense but I'm still hitting 'Publish' anyway ahaha blah poop doink
Good night

2. But I hate chem omg chem is the bane of my existence I think I know my stuff but when I try a paper I actually can't do anything and please don't say you know how it feels or whatever because when I say can't do anything I mean it I really cannot do 70% of the paper do you know how screwed I know I am

This last one was when I accidentally pressed the camera button and didn't know what to do
4. I deleted twitter a couple of days ago. I just feel like there's no point tweeting anymore, like I keep thinking of how our gp teacher mrs chew went off on one of her little rants about social media and how she ended off with the very impactful line, "NOBODY CARES!" #truth
5. Also, I bought honey lemon water yesterday but today my time of the month arrived so I can't drink it do you feel my pain #punny
6. Dinnertime bye pumpkins

This rose has lost its red
Lost my phone today.
Haiyah. I'm sad of course, the shock is just settling in, but I think I'm more upset about the fact that someone would want to steal it. I suppose it's valuable considering it was an iPhone 5, but why. Why are people so mean. I would've returned it, and I don't think it's considered something kind to do at all. It's only right. How can you live with it knowing that you basically stole someone's phone?
There are people out there who probably would've been sadder than me if they lost their iPhone, especially if they had vital information in it or stuff in it that meant a lot to them. Fortunately I only had a few social media apps in it and most of my information like my contacts was previously backed-up on my laptop, but still. It's still my freaking phone. Who knows, I might've been a poorer-off kid who actually scrimped and saved for that precious iPhone 5. (I suppose there is the argument that if I actually treasured it that much then I wouldn't have been so careless with it though)
But of course, thieves don't care. Say they happily traded in my phone. What would have the money gone to? A new sweater? A new bag? New shoes? How can someone possibly be happy and proud of something new they supposedly own knowing that it was a product of someone else's hard-earned money? That the money wasn't even yours and you don't deserve it at all?
I feel like a bitch now for being so careless. I would've apologized to my parents but my mom just gave me a tongue-lashing and the word wouldn't come out of my mouth. Maybe later.
Curse the bloody bitch who took my phone. (definitely a girl / woman / auntie because I left it on top of the WC in the ladies'.) I hope you get mauled by a pitbull- no, make it two- and your mutilated, mangled, half-alive body gets thrown into the sea so the salt seeps into your wounds and you die a slow, painful death. Your soul should rot in the depths of hell so it can gleefully reunite with your conscience.
Sorry, I have to vent my anger this way because I have a strict personal no-swearing policy. It used to be a really bad habit when I was younger and more ignorant and I'm doing my best to kick it now.
I bought a cute notebook from Muji to lift my spirits but it's not really doing much now, considering I still have work to do too. Ugh. I am so pissed off.
I still have my old iPhone too so my line is getting deactivated tomorrow and I'll have my info restored in the phone soon. But, still. My parents' hard-earned money. I was considering carrying on with life without a phone, too, because I'm just so frustrated of being helplessly tied down by technology. Screw social media, I want to go somewhere without feeling the need to tell people where I am or what I'm doing. I want to sketch and write instead of type and tap. (Irony lol)
But it's hard to break free from technology now that I'm so accustomed to having it in my life, I guess. Sigh.
Ok time to do work :(
Bad day man.
