march, the title of one of my favourite basement songs.
march, the month of three of my best friends' birthdays.
march, the month i flew to germany for my student exchange programme, the longest time i would be abroad on my own.
aside from that, march has always been the lull month of the year for me. it has always felt long and uneventful - the time of the year when the joy of celebrating the new year and lunar new year has waned, and everyone starts to crack down for the work year and sober up to the fact that there will be no public holidays for a long while.
somehow, this year it's jam-packed for me though??
there was the release of pb grades (ok yes, past few years also have). this year was a good year for me huhu. i'm actually kinda sian in my new department because there are not as many things to do. so life is not as exciting. i'm not one of those people who can sit around and do nth at work - i get restless very easily. oh well.
the next few weeks there are quite a few meetings though, and i also have 7 days of course to clear so i'm trying to plan ahead... yay bz-ness!
then there are wedding preps.
i'm amazed at how people can plan big banquets, because sherwin and i are just gonna hold a small lunch, but i still feel like i have so many small details to take care of. i also feel the need to tell everyone it's not a wedding, but a celebration. cos we are forgoing so many things that people normally do for a wedding, like the gatecrashing, tea ceremony, bride and groom walk-in, wine-popping, cake-cutting...
rly just having a nice lunch together with our favourite people sounds like the best thing to me. i can't imagine putting together a whole show just for the sake of... 'this is how society does things'. but i think it's just my personal preference. i actually love going to my friends' weddings though!! i guess watching the show is nice. planning it is an entirely different matter. LOL
and then, there are moving preps!
i'm very lucky in that:
1) i am minimalistic by nature. i don't like having clutter and for most daily items, i only have a few of each that i use all the time. some examples: i have 2 pairs of shoes for work that i rotate every day because wearing the same pair every day will wear it down too fast. i have 2 watches. 3 hairclips. 2 scrunchies. stuff like that hahaha. i don't think i could wear the same clothes every day like some people do though. i think that would be super boring.
2) my family and i just moved in may last year, so i already spring cleaned my stuff and don't have as many things as before. so moving to sherwin's won't be too much of a hassle.
all in all, i'm kinda excited to move! hehe
other exciting stuff happening this month:
- meet the parents is happening next week. hope it's not awkward hahaha
- i bought sherwin and myself dna kits last month. the results should be out mid to late this month. it's scary but also exciting. what if we discover unknown relatives? what if we have health issues? what if sherwin and i are cousins?? we have the same last name and i have some biological family i've never met. so it's not entirely out of the question. LOL
okay off to enjoy the rest of my friday night.
have a great weekend and an awesome march everyone! 💕
