24

been procrastinating on this post. it's been more than a few days since i turned 24, and it's been... cray cray.

on one hand, (older) colleagues have been all "what the... you're one year older and you're still only 24?"

on the other hand, 24 sounds sooo old to me. it's been a whole 6 years since i was 18! imagine that.

i have definitely been reflecting a bit more since this birthday as compared to previous years. maybe just cos 24 sounds so definitive? it's like turning 16, 18 or 21. it just sounds so yuge!

this has also been the most transformative year of my life thus far, maybe aside from turning 13, which is when i started secondary school and moved house at the same time. my childhood community was also my social circle, since many of us went to the same primary school, lived in the same area and played at the same playground together every day. i also had a best friend that i swore i would visit every week, but well, life got in the way. i recently stalked her on instagram and she seems to be doing wonderfully though, so that's great!

anyways, teenagerhood is a whole other story we will save for some other time. fast forward 11 years later, here i am all grown up with a job and a wonderful boyfriend. if only i had my own apartment, but hey, it's singapore.

from my job i have learnt sooo many things. and i do enjoy my job :) the only problem is waking up early every day. it's been more than a year since i started working (omg seriously?) and i still cannot get used to waking up at such an unearthly hour every day. but well, i still do it cos it's better than taking the train at peak hour.

now that i am no longer spending all my free time studying, i have also had time to ponder about life outside of work and on what i really want to achieve. this statement sounds a bit too suspenseful cos... i still haven't found an answer HAHA. but it's really comforting to think about how i'm still really only 24 and i have time to set out to achieve whatever goals i have.

i think that for now, i would really like to find time to travel. someday i also want to have a dog, but that's a pretty big responsibility and it's a long-term commitment that i will need more time to think about.

but also for now, i am in a really good place. very happy with all that i have accomplished so far in my life, although honestly i have pretty low standards for most things and i'm not ambitious. and no regrets thus far about anything i've done (or about anything i can think of from the top of my head) cos everything honestly seems to have happened for a reason.

in future years i hope to have a better idea of where i'm going next. cos you only live one life, and it's too short to waste time on things you don't really want to do, or people you don't really want to spend time with. (sounds so paggro somehow LOL i'm just saying ok)

but anyways, back to my main point - turning 24 was brilliant and i didn't expect to get as many wishes as i did (wah pops sia). the outpouring of love on a birthday is so heartwarming i kinda wish we had more birthdays in a year hehe.

here's to all my '95 babies, my family and friends, many of whom probably don't read my blog, but should know that i care deeply about them - the select few i hold so closely to my heart, cos hashtag INFJ.

goodnight everybody, and happy hump day!
