Just like a match you strike to incinerate

Hi! Back with more pictures yayyy

It's finally the end of what has been the most busy/stressful 1.5 weeks this sem. So HAPPYYY

Week 7 Monday:
Spent one of my free days in school as usual (the irony), studying for the 3304 midterm + doing readings.

Week 7 Tuesday:
Skipped LSM lecture for the first time this sem, to study for the 3304 midterm.

Week 7 Wednesday:
3351 lecture, then rushed to mpsh for the 3304 midterm, which was easier than I expected, but after I came out I realised I made careless mistakes -___- f my life

Week 7 Thursday:
Finally went for DSC lecture! And learnt nothing as usual. Then had 3351 tutorial, and skipped DSC tutorial for the first time cos I didn't want to go alone (Lianne made plans with her friend cos for some reason she thought we had no tutorial... i don't even know why LOL)

Week 7 Friday:
Had my first interview for internship, which lasted five minutes, wow. Then went to school, studied for the DSC midterm and sat for the midterm.
Left before time was up so I could make it to catch 100 bands fest with the ampd people. Saw iman's league who were pretty much great as always, though the mix was very shitty, and some strange metalcore band, and cashew chemists 😍 if I were 15 I would have had such a huge crush on Yuji...
Then we had supper as usual, and I got home at an unearthly hour as usual 😪 but free car ride, so not complaining.

Week 7 Saturday:
Attempted to do work, but I did nothing all day. I can never study at home :(
Was supposed to meet DT and Jiams for bak kut teh to celebrate my bday, but Jiams fell sick, so I dabao-ed porridge for us to her house instead and we watched Tangled together. It was so nua, but prolly my favourite thing I did all week ☺️ (aww) Hanging out with the bff is always therapeutic.

Week 7 Sunday:
Turned 21! yayyyy. Tbh I don't feel different at all. There's been so many 21st celebrations this year that I just associated myself with being 21 instead of 20 as well. Didn't have a celebration unlike most of my friends, cos too lazy to plan LOL I think it's more effort than it's worth tbh.
Way too lazy to dress up as well. If I had one, my theme would probably be "PJs". And then anybody who comes in anything other than seasoned baggy tshirts and fbts/pajama shorts is a liar and has to do a forfeit. muahahaha.
Had lunch at crystal jade with the parents. So yummyyy. Good food is everything.
Got home and.... studied for my midterm LOL #no life
But it was a really great day, feeling so loved with so many birthday messages hehe.

Week 8 Monday:
Had another interview. Felt sian cos the timing was very bad (2.30pm), the e-mail said there would be a 1 hour writing test, when I got there the person said it's 1.5 hours, and I took 2 hours to do it. Sat in a room that had a glass wall that was for some reason facing the main entrance, so for everyone who walked in the building, the first thing they would see was this girl sitting alone in an empty room like a prisoner, writing a test... felt like I was in detention or something srsly.

Went home and did some work, and at night I was feeling down, so I decided to listen to a random song I like to listen to on quiet nights (hear you me by jimmy eat world) and the next recommended song was 'the middle', also by jimmy eat world, and I've never heard that so I just decided to give it a shot.
And the lyrics were so apt for my current mood? I was pretty shocked.

It just takes some time
Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright

I couldn't decide whether to take it as a sign of divine intervention, or write it off as just another song with generic lyrics... LOL
But then again, what are the odds of picking a song that a band wrote about a girl feeling down right? 🤔
It did make me feel a lot better, though. Hahaha

Week 8 Tuesday:
Skipped lsm lecture again to study for another midterm. Then went to the ampd mixer at night! It was really fun. Being the awkward person I am, I mostly stuck to my same old friends from ampd, but it was still funn. Had hotpot and stuffed myself with veggies (more for me cos I realised a lot of ampd people don't like veggies. Is this a thing? Maybe people who play in bands tend not to like veggies? But correlation does not imply causation 🤔 LOL. I feel like only Lianne will laugh at this.)
And it was awesome cos Mark DJ-ed, and he and i have almost the exact same taste in music so i just spent most of the night fangirling over old songs and singing along to them. (mcr, all time low, pierce the veil, red jumpsuit apparatus... we joked that it was Emo Night)
And then some people left to catch other ampd people performing at clarke quay, others went back to the studio to jam and eat supper, and I.... went home cos I had midterm the next day.

Week 8 Wednesday (today):
FINALLY DONE WITH MIDTERMS. Woohoooo. Only had 3 this sem actually, but I think I felt stressed and rushed the whole week cos I had to prepare and travel for interviews as well.
Also had another interview after school today, which made my whole week, cos I got it on the spot ☺️ the work environment seems nice, the office is small and pretty and for some reason almost everyone there was ang moh. My interviewer was a super duper chio french lady who looked like she should have been a supermodel instead. (dunno if it's professional to say this stuff on my blog but LOL)
But I'm really glad I got the offer cos I was looking forward to getting this one.

And now... pictures

My fuel

Been writing stuff again recently hehe hope to put them to good use someday

I think this was 2 weeks ago? Was feeling sleepy at lsm lecture so I went to buy coffee from platypus.
Whenever I decide to give food a second chance, I always regret it -__-
Tasted bad as always. But it was also super strong, I could actually feel the moment it started kicking in.
Was totally alert after that LOL

Making beer in lsm lecture

My band for the rising star competition! sadly we didnt get in :( but it was fun getting to know them

totally LOL-ed

There was a period of time when I went to church as a child.
These memes seriously brought back memories when I saw them LOL

and when your christian friends bring you to their church

studied in school most of recess week (i think?)

my birthday balloon was supposed to last 1 week but it lasted 3 weeks :')

@ Divika's 21st last saturday!

We were her only Chinese friends aside from 2 other girls.
So that means 6 of us in her house of 40 Indian family and friends.
Felt a lil awkward and wondered if that was what its like to be the minority haha

WQ said it himself: "omg I never thought I would see a girl so ugly in my life"

Ampd made stickers wow.
Damn pretty and I want to buy, but $2 each :/
Spot me hehe

my favourite pasar malam food hehe

Ampd hotpot! Spot me again
#creepin

While coming home today after I finally got an internship offer LOL

Oops couldn't decide which one to post

I was totally triggered by this nuswhispers post.... what's wrong with wearing tshirt shorts slippers to sch??
OP confirm freshie i tell you.

Okay bye

mum: "not cheap ok. i bought them many many many years ago, for $500."

me: "wow. you only bought one pair ah?" (cos i have 3 piercings)

mum: "ya...... how would i know at the time that my daughter would have 3 piercings??"

LOL idk if you find it funny but i do HAHA

getting home early on a weekday and having dinner with my mama is always nice 😌

Straight to video

wow i am posting photos waow is this real life

was listening to mindless self indulgence for the first time in many years on the train to school and i can't believe i used to listen to stuff like that... weird hahaha

i realised that i don't really blog about my friends in uni (basically amp'd people) even though they're prolly the ones i've been spending the most time with for the past 1 year+... so i went to find recent photos i can post. but... don't have. HAHA

the past 2 weeks or so have been hectic, mainly cos of that level 4 mod. lecturer arranged a make-up lecture at 6-9pm last night, so that meant we had to do double the readings in preparation, and also my group did our presentation last night, so we had a lot of meetings the past week.

also had a couple of friends flying off last week, as you will see in the following pics.

some friends of mine and i (maggie asked me to play bass for her band, 'the wild card') also joined a competition held by nus ohs, called the rising star, and now we are in top 45!

however we thought we didn't get in until the last day we had to reply the e-mail, when i asked maggie to double confirm, and she found out the congratulatory e-mail got sent to another account instead. so long story short, we're in!

but because we found out so last min, we only had time for one jam...... LOL. but i think we sound pretty good tbh. 30% of judging criteria depends on voting, so dear reader, yes YOU, pls vote if i share the video on fb!!

top 10 finalists get some really, really attractive cash prizes... thats why im so kiasu.

okay here are some highlights of my life from the past 6 weeks

(omg has it really been 6 weeks since sch started)

Rag performance, week 0
just look at that insane crowd
i also regret wearing those culottes... i look like an ahma

a beautiful picture of SLF performance, week 1

we all agreed it was the first and last time we switched instruments for a gig...
it was damn leh ceh.
and as you can see, our guitars were all high af to accommodate HJ (the tiny girl far left)...
we looked like the beatles

a random pic of din and my pretty bass, auditions, week 2

the first time i had to journey back to the east with isaac, i was like oh no.
cos we were not close at all and the ride home is like 1.5h
but here we are, many journeys-to-the-east and many ameens suppers later...
this is him having one of his epic food comas

my deer friend lianne
for whom i'm extremely thankful for to have by my side in uni :')

farewell party for lum + bryan and my surprise bday @ marina barrage

overpriced yoogane dinner with L and T

celebrated ahnia's birthday that night ☺️
cos she was gonna fly off to UK
coincidentally, today is her actual birthday!
(HAPPY 21ST MY DEAREST FRIEND)
love you

1 + 1 = 2

ah nia flew off :(

my first humble cup, in week 5.
this must be a new record!
i usually drink a lot of humble but this sem, somehow i have friends to attend classes with for like almost every class, and i'm always scared that i'll have coffee breath so i haven't been drinking coffee LOL.
but it was soo good omg
the only bad thing about humble is service is really bad/slow...

bryan's turn to fly off

took individual photos with him but they were quite bad...
weiqiang was the photographer
so here's a funny photo

okay byebye hahahahax

I was elated, I was divided

The song of my 2014 summer. (or was it 2015?)

so damn good, but so obscure i can't even find lyrics for it on google, so i just have to resort to guessing what he's singing about...

That's an ending that I can't write

helloooo

it's the beginning of week 4 and i am starting to feel the heat...

just when i thought heavy mod times (german) were over, i had to go and take a level 4 mod... it's interesting la really. just that the hours of preparation were listed as 7.5 per week, but i feel it's more like 10+ hours.

the biology mod is also like... wut. i have no interest in biology at all and all these big foreign words and terminology are just putting me off :/

dsc is quite easy so far but i've heard bell curve is freaking steep (although that's what everybody says about easy mods)

apparently they used to teach dsc to both biz majors and people from other faculties taking it as breadth, but they had to separate biz majors from the other people because a lot of science and engin kids were taking the mod and owning the biz majors...... lOL

i think i'm just gonna focus on my econs mods since i can't s/u them.

so much for pulling my cap this sem hais

coming back to school really makes me wish i was on sep instead

other than my mods, life has been great

yesterday i went to a gathering with the jc kids at marina barrage, it was supposed to be a farewell party for lum and bryan who are going overseas, but when i got there i realised it was also a surprise bday party for me awwww was very touched although i think my poker face did not give away much :<

stuffed ourselves with food and played some games haha

everything was great except for the location. sitting in the humid outdoors made us all sweat like cray and by 6pm we were all dead from the sun and ready to go home. hahaha.

i also got a balloon hehe i think it's the first time i've received a balloon in like 13 years?

it's funny how when you're a small kid you love balloons, then once you hit 9 or 10 you shun them because you're all grown up now and don't want to look childish, and when you're a young adult suddenly you're getting balloons again for your birthday haha

but the balloon was really very pretty, it had smaller balloons in it that were my favourite colours (blue and green and white) ☺️ #i think i love balloons again

now that the guys are in year 1 and the girls are in year 3, it's the period for sending people overseas.

et has gone off to sweden, tania is going to scotland, lum is going to tw and bryan is going to study somewhere near london. waow. going to miss all of you :(

okay back to the grind... BYE

Where have you been?

I love this whole album (Get Born) from JET.

It starts off very lively with 3 fast songs, then it simmers down a lil with Look What You've Done, and then from there it's 1 fast song, 2 slow songs, 2 fast songs, 1 slow song, 1 fast song, and 2 slow songs, including the last song on the album, Timothy.

I always wondered what this song meant, and apparently it's about a band member's older brother who died as a child. :(

This is a really slow song but I kinda just realised how amazing the instrumentation is. The reverb, and echoey sounds, and the keyboard riff in the background that sounds like a spaceship... wow. I always wondered why the song sounded so spacey and I just realised today it was cos of that riff.

And such simple yet powerful lyrics... it kinda sounds like Julian Casablancas, now that I think of it. Both in terms of songwriting and vocals. Although Julian's voice would probably be muffled and much less prominent in the mix as compared to the rest of the instruments...

Only fools rush in

it's official... i'm a year 3 😭

half of my uni life has flown by. i have had soo much fun in uni and i really dw it to end :(

i'm starting my 5th semester in nus tomorrow omg. feels like just yesterday when lianne and i were taking sociology together. (that was in our first sem)

my mods this sem don't look very fun, but i think it's still better than last sem's. i have to clear 2 breadth mods this sem, and i chose lsm1301 and dsc1007x. both sound boring to me but i can think of worse mods out there, so i shall count my blessings.

i'm also taking my first level 4 mod this sem- behavioural economics. i hope it's kind to me.

on the bright side... i got everything for 1 point each! wow. and also, three-day work week!!! so happy hehe.

welp. nothing much else to say. i guess i'm quite excited for the new sem. excited to watch auditions for the cca, and excited to see how the new sem goes.

this summer break has been eventful yet fun, with summer sch, the baybeats experience, dinners and beers with friends, more hanging out at the clubroom, some spring cleaning for my room, attempts to learn to cook my own meals, and many many gig practices. (i still feel like i've done so much yet so little over the past 3 months)

Like a river flows

Updates on my life cos im boliao (wow im gonna miss being boliao when school starts which is in 12 DAYS HOLY)

nothing much happened last week- was busy with the last week of summer school. somehow all the assignments are due in the last week. there was a 50% group project, 10% group assignment and 20% individual essay all due in the same week 🙄 but yay im finally done with my summer module, couldn't be happier.

saturday:
had slf jam in the afternoon. i think we have improved by leaps and bounds :') i'm less of a potato at the guitar now.

sunday:
house got painted so the whole family had to retreat to the balcony. went to do work at a cafe at simpang with jiams later. huge cup of coffee for 5 bucks, yum.

monday:
handed in my last assignment for summer sch!! (i asked for an extension hahaha)
had rag jam in the evening. somehow a lot of other people were also in the clubroom/studio for various reasons, so after our jam we all went to eat at ameens tgt. then 3 of us got a ride back to the east yayyy

tuesday:
weirdest thing ever happened to me!

went out early and to one of my hangout spots at paya lebar. it was kinda crowded so i asked a lady in office wear if i could sit at the table next to hers.

and then both of us stared at each other.

she said first "you look very familiar..." and i said "ya you too!" but neither of us could remember where we'd seen each other. sat there for a few very very awkward moments (her face had turned red LOL), she asked what school/workplace and i said NUS and she said she worked nearby.

-more awkward silence-

and then i realised and i said "OMG youre my cousin!" and she looked at me, shocked, and said "what?"

and then she realised as well and we both laughed awkwardly.

she was the daughter of my estranged uncle, and i've only seen her twice in my life before.

my goodness, imagine meeting your own cousin in public and not recognising them. so paiseh for both of us!! but it was also super funny and weird.

if our families had not reunited recently, i would have sat down next to this lady without knowing she was my own cousin. wow...

so anyway, she had to rush off to work soon after that, and i left the place at about 3pm.

had beer at the usual place with hj at night. it was the most intoxicated i've gotten in ages. though i definitely wasn't drunk.

we decided to be adventurous and shared 2 jugs, so that's actually one 1.5 litre jug each. felt a little woozy but still fine, talked and walked normally and got home safe, but then i conked out on the sofa hahahaha

i remember i kept trying to reply texts but the next thing i knew i would be waking up from sleep. it was quite funny

wednesday:
woke up at 12 noon today hehe. the potato life is such a good life. kinda sad it's ending soon.

basically lazed at home the whole day. had lunch, went to collect my bass amp back from friend's gf who i lent it to, watched cat videos and listened to haley reinhart, had dinner with mum, watched some kdrama with her, then back to the laptop.

what a lifee

Human

i hardly comment on current affairs, especially on a platform where i try to keep things light-hearted, like my blog, but i feel like i really have some things to say too about the recent NUS sexualised orientation camps saga.

i love my university. it's given me so many amazing opportunities that i am super thankful for. not many people in the world get to grow up and study in a university as safe and ideal as NUS, and i realise that. my time in NUS so far has been nothing short of wonderful, so it really hit the feels when tnp wrote this article that seems to be insinuating that NUS culture is not as vibrant and wholesome as it seems.

1. if you don't like it, don't go. it doesn't take a lot of time and effort to ask around and do your research about camps. and it's common knowledge that arts camp is probably the most lup sup camp in NUS. i signed up for arts o week camp back in 2014, and i actually got in, but after a bit of consideration, i decided not to go. i didn't feel like i would fit in and resonate well with arts camp culture, so i just turned it down. simple as that.

if you do go, and you decide to sit out when they play the lup sup games, be proud of your decision. you just decided to adhere to your moral standards and put your own comfort first by choosing not to give in to peer pressure, and that's an admirable thing to do. don't sit out, then worry if people are talking about and judging you behind your back, and then rant about it to an influential local newspaper.

if you're worried you won't be able to find any uni friends if you don't go for arts camp, then don't worry cos your worries are completely unfounded. there are faculty camps, sports clubs, arts and other interest groups, halls and colleges of residence, even academic society groups. there are a thousand and one other ways for you to find friends in NUS, there's no need for you to go to that one camp that makes you uncomfortable.

in short, know what you signed up for, and be smart about it.

2. irresponsible reporting has been a hot trend in the media of late, but i think this article really took the cake. what does tnp hope to achieve by painting NUS in such a bad light? if it's to evoke strong negative public reaction and generate a hoo-ha so as to gain more readership, then i guess they've achieved their goal.

reporting was done based on the views of 2 students, and everything seems to be centred on the events at only one camp in NUS. this is generalisation at its finest. the article was completely biased, which is really sad seeing as it's tnp, one of the more influential papers in singapore.

by focusing on all the nasty stuff that's been going on in one NUS camp and highlighting the experiences of two students who did not have a good time, while completely ignoring any other contradictory positive viewpoint, tnp gave the average naive singaporean reader the impression that every student in NUS must be a bad nut with no sense of morality, and NUS is not doing anything about it.

3. of course, this allowed many people to jump on the i-knew-it, kids-these-days-are-up-to-no-good bandwagon. every generation loves to judge and bitch about the next one. i myself am guilty of it.

readers expressed horror at the falling moral standards of youth today. older NUS alumni were disgusted at what's become of the students of their beloved alma mater. other folks questioned the purpose of awarding prestigious degrees to such poorly-behaved youth with no sound character.

it hurts to see NUS and its students being bashed like that on social media, when i know we are so much better than that. singaporeans love controversy. the country's pride and joy, NUS, breeding insensitive, morally unsound brats with no class? wow, what a juicy piece of meat for everyone who hates the 'strawberry generation'.

but at the end of the day, nobody is really benefitting from poor reporting.

Three cheers for five years

Disclaimer: this post is all about Mayday Parade

want to quote some lyrics, but idk whether to quote verse, chorus or bridge cos everything is so feeeeeels

i didn't know this song back in 2014, so when they came and played in singapore, i was more of a huge fan of jamie all over, kids in love and jersey. (miserable at best and stay are not really my favourites from mp, but it's really nice to sing along to, so i liked when they played those too)

but now i keep listening to this song over and over. it's so well-written. that emotional buildup towards the bridge, and then the pretty much bittersweet ending verse at the end.

for some reason this is also the mp song that reminds me most of the concert back in 2014.

i loooove concerts. there is always this feeling of affinity with your fellow concert-goers, even if you've never met them before it feels like you're at least acquainted somehow, because you both forked out 80 bucks to come and see the same band, so that prolly says something about how much you like them.

i can't remember exactly when i started listening to mayday parade. i think it was 2012. sometimes i can't believe it's gonna be my second time seeing them this year. i was 18 when i first saw them and i'm gonna be 21 when i see them again. how cool is that?

the other day i was doing some spring cleaning in my room, a couple of days after baybeats, and i found a postcard that i got during cashew chemists' set at baybeats 2012. a stack of them was being passed around the crowd for free.

i think i have the photo somewhere on my facebook

ta-da!

(took me forever to find cos i kept getting distracted by all the photos)

but really though. has it really been 4 years? wow

Raised in Carolina, she says

  • hello!
  • the past week has been really fun and eventful. but also tiring cos i had to travel to school every day.
  • lemme recap the past week so i can procrastinate on my assignments
  • Monday: had really bad cramps and a terrible headache, so i skipped class. but still had to go to school in the evening anyway for slf band jam. this gig is prolly the most fun gig i've ever had in nus. not only am i doing it with close friends, we're also switching instruments! i'm playing guitar, keys, drums- everything except my own instrument. hopefully we don't turn out too fail. i'm especially nervous for drums cos it's gonna be so obvious if i make a mistake.
  • Tuesday: went to school to work on a group assignment for summer school. was quite fun
  • Wednesday: went to school and didn't know what to have for lunch, so i decided to try 'butter my buns', that new cafe at utown. seriously, everytime i decide to try something new i regret it. it was crowded everywhere in utown due to lunch hour, but when i stepped into 'butter my buns' there were about five people there. decided to go ahead and order anyways despite the obvious lack of rave, and it was soo bad. the portobello mushrooms tasted like ... almost gagged. potato salad was not the creamy kind at aston's, it was literally some greens with pieces of potato. LOL. even the mac n cheese was okay-ish. paid 7.5 for the food and it wasn't even filling. but the coffee was pretty decent. tasted like humble origins' coffee. will probably never go to butter my buns again for food.... maybe just coffee.
  • anyway, even though i was alr in school, i decided to skip class..... hahahaha. went to the studio to hang (i think the studio is by far my number 1 hangout in nus) and read my slides, and encountered a couple of drummer friends who were changing drum skins, i think. at 5p: m we got hungry so 4 of us went to wah chee for zi char. yummm. hadn't had zi char in a while.
  • Thursday: slf band jam again, this time at 11am-2pm. reached the studio at 10.30am to practice, and whatsapped "is everyone awake?" to which one of them replied "huh don't like that leh, does that mean you just woke up?" and i was like no la. but turns out he was the only other person who was awake... LOL. another 2 people woke up past 11 and joined us much later, while the last one never made it.
  • but i got a ride home from a fellow eastie so it's okay. went to saizeriya by myself for dinner. it was like 4+, so there was no crowd, and a waiter came and chatted me up 😭 the reason i eat alone almost all the time is cos i don't like talking while im eating... and im too lazy to go into detail, but he was also quite weird
  • Friday: lecturer sent out an email that we're not allowed to skip today's class cos there was group evaluation, so i had to go. picked the wrong day to wear slippers cos it rained cats and dogs, and the floor at utown was super slippery. despite walking super carefully and slowly, i slipped three times omg. it was so scary.
  • lecture was quite interesting, but i got super hungry towards the end and prayed hard my stomach wouldn't growl. went to hwangs and ate ramen which is basically maggi mee, then felt guilty so i walked to yih. weather was really nice for a walk anyway.
  • had rag jam in the evening which i thought was really productive for a second jam. yayyy.
  • okay time to do assignments
byee

My secrets for a buck

  • took this selfie a few days ago, wanted to blog with it since i haven't updated with any photos for about two eons now. it's to show you guys i'm still blogging and haven't been replaced by a robot.
  • took it 15 min after waking up, hence the tired face haha
  • listening to brand new and uploading photo booth selfies really makes me think of the jc / a level break days. i used to blog so often in jc haha. and i rmb how completely carefree i felt after i quit my job and did nothing for two months while waiting for uni to start.
  • all i did every day was wake up early, drink tea, blog, drink coffee, read a book, listen to brand new, rhcp and tigers jaw, sleep, repeat.
  • life has been good- just came back from prata with wums and her bf (hi wums!).
  • had a mini pizza party with the baybeats team this morning and was glad to hear baybeats may not be the end of our stint. hopefully there'll be fun stuff coming up. really enjoyed this whole process, getting an insider look at music journalism. it never occured to me that there was even such a field until i watched almost famous.
  • getting complimented by the st music correspondent on my 'flair for writing' was also the highlight of my day. very touched to receive praise from someone who's been in the scene for so many years.
  • school starts in a month and i'm pretty excited, finally embarking on a semester where i'm not being burdened by compulsory german (don't get me wrong i loved german but it was just such a heavy mod, with at least one vocab test/assignment/exam every week and all).
  • at the same time i also have to up my cap game, after the disastrous last sem. still can't get over what a baaad decision it was to take IO. worst mod ever. plus after this sem i only have honours mods left to do in nus and it can only go downhill from there.
  • speaking of sch, changing landscapes was also another bad decision. it is so impossibly fluffy. should have taken a nice factual mod from science or something for summer school. but ah wells.
time to sleep bye bye

Twenty ways to start a fight

  • Da jia hao
  • It's a nice saturday afternoon and I'm bumming around at home, kinda. Saw that the module listing for this year is out on myaces and excitedly went to look at modules. For some reason I'm always super excited to plan timetables. I think it's fun, don't you??
  • but then i saw that one of the mods i wanted to take clashes with a core mod, and then it wasn't so fun anymore.
  • can't believe it's my fifth time planning my timetable. -cries- more than halfway through my uni life already.
  • life has been great, the past week was pretty busy because i went for all 3 days of baybeats. it was soooo fun! tbh the foreign bands didn't really stand out for me. but i heard Unclose (JP) was great, sadly i didn't catch them. i thought koji was amazeballs, but not many other people seem to be raving about them, maybe they're not as appealing as disco hue or cashew chemists. (but i must admit eugene is really charming, reminds me of alex turner with that velvety i-will-sing-blues-love-songs-to-you-over-the-phone voice.) another band that really did it for me was the summer state, that amount of energy was insane.
  • wednesday was cac camp finale night gig, the crowd wasn't very high despite the gig being at zouk, but one of the dance cac groups (was it funkstyles?) showed some love by dancing to our music which was nice :') a few hiccups here and there during the day, but it was all good.
  • sometimes i think we're really at a huge disadvantage compared to other cac groups. dance and acapella groups are so much more popular with concert planners because there is practically no logistics involved- all you need is a simple PA system to blast trendy pop songs. with amplified, there's expensive, bulky equipment, transportation costs and manpower costs for the shifting, plus all the equipment also takes up precious space backstage. not to mention our equipment is not only burden-some to the gig producers, it also costs a bomb to rent. and to add icing to the cake, edm music and dance items are all the rage now. the general youth population doesn't really listen to good bands anymore, it's all kpop groups and flashy moves and fleshy moves and synth and electronic beats.
  • sometimes i feel bad for some of my friends in the club, they're trying so hard and it's not really their fault that amplified isn't that big. just gotta admit that we're really suay, and about as trendy right now as bell-bottomed jeans are.
  • and on an unrelated note, the cac camp estrella comm really sucked? nobody was there to supervise us or tell us where to go, what we could do during the entire afternoon, except for the logs guys who were really nice and helpful. the whole day, we (the cac groups + logs guys) carried everything over and set up everything ourselves, rehearsed and soundchecked ourselves and prepared for the gig ourselves. we had no idea who was in charge or where they were. it almost felt like we were running our own gig at zouk. best part is when someone contacted a comm member to ask why nobody was there, the reply was "i expected better from the performers," meaning that we should have known how to do everything ourselves and we shouldn't need anyone from the comm there with us. makes me mad all over again just thinking about that horrible attitude. just because they signed up for this one-time camp comm thing it doesn't mean they can behave like that? i sure hope they feel good about themselves writing about how much they contributed to this event in their resumes.
  • haha ok didn't intend to elaborate on the hiccups. but ah well.
off to surf youtube, bye bye

Walk yourself out the door

Realized recently that i have a hard time talking to introverts, and most of my close friends or the people i identify with as 'same frequency', ironically, are extroverts.

I guess it's true that opposites attract.

Chemicals

We are made from chemicals
But what holds us together
Is much more than this
And you are strong
So much stronger than me
All along
Cause you are everything
And I am nothing

We spend our summer writing songs
About how we'd never make it on our own
But here we are
And I surrender
I'm running thin
You were right
Cause you are everything
And I am nothing

Random feels for Tigers Jaw
Their songs are like the soundtrack to a really nice road trip with friends that's losing its charm.
And this is them romanticizing about the long summer.

In other news, on my way to school for actual first day of summer school, yay.

I checked my e-mail before I left my house, just in case.

Stay awake through summer like we own the heat

so today was day 1 of summer school. headed to school early to grab lunch at utown. at kent ridge mrt i decided to check my mail, and lo and behold- class was cancelled because the lecturer was unwell. e-mail was sent four hours before lecture was supposed to start.

felt so asdfghjkl.

since i was already at kent ridge and starving, i decided to just lunch at utown. went home after that and bought a big cup of teh si siew dai to make myself feel better.

ugh, what a wasted trip. maybe i'll just spend today cleaning my room instead.

Oh dear can't you see / it's them it's not me

  • bullet form again cos i'm too lazy to try to link everything up hehe
  • it is 19 june today which means we're slightly more than halfway through the summer break :O sometimes thinking about stuff like this really makes me sad- soon i'll be done with the next sem, then i'll be in germany, and the next month i'll be graduating, next year i'll be a jaded 40-year-old and in five years i'll be a grandmother of six.
  • still so many things on my summer 2016 to-do list that i have not done. i downloaded scott pilgrim in 1020dp (omg) and still haven't gotten my ass round to watch it even though it's in my hard disk which is literally right in front of me as i type.
  • i didn't manage to find an internship this summer sadly but hopefully it won't affect my future that much haha. i'm pretty much living the nua life this break, enjoying it while i still can since it will be my last uni summer break ever :((( fell asleep yesterday on the couch while watching tv, with a finished ice-cream stick in my right hand cos i ate potong ice-cream right before i fell asleep. the potato life is the good life.
  • but i can't stand being 100% nua, so i started signing myself up for commitments. this coming week is packed with gym time and jam sessions for 3 different gigs. and most likely going for all 3 days of baybeats the coming weekend. eggcited! hehe. also joined youth.sg as a correspondent and may be attending an event, not sure yet.
  • summer school also commences tomorrow. i think i am really a potato because i only recently realized that i can't s/u the module. the class venue was also changed to audi3 which is probably the most inconvenient venue in utown... and timing is 2-5pm which is quite :( but ah wells.
  • yesterday was the last workshop for baybeats. after the workshop, the 8 of us stayed back to print and put together 250 copies of our zine, to be handed out at baybeats festival. was quite the accomplishment. most of us are around the same age, like 21-24, but tbh i find it quite hard to talk to them, while everyone else seems to have made fast friends with one another :( they laugh at stuff i don't really laugh at, and i laugh at stuff when no one else does which is awkward. i think it's probably cos of our very different backgrounds? i come from jc science stream --> uni while everyone else is from lasalle / sota / poly / ite. almost all of them have jazz music backgrounds and/or experience in design, marketing and writing, while my most relevant experience consists of watching movies like scott pilgrim and almost famous. they all seem very mature and full of life experience :/
  • lastly, i've been spending a lot of time on youtube, and yesterday i watched postmodern jukebox's cover of creep by radiohead featuring haley reinhart. omg it was the best cover i've watched in a while. i loved haley reinhart on AI, and that cover did her voice sooo much justice. went to watch the live acoustic version she did with casey abrams and somehow it was even better *-* i've always loved raw stuff, i've gone through fangirl phases with old demos from saosin, brand new and mcr. sooo good.
  • sorry for the long, wordy post heh. i've kinda given up on uploading photos alr cos i have wayy too many. maybe sometime in the future, when i am a grandmother of six.

The break in the bend, the closest of calls

  • i just realized that blogger has bullet form LOL
  • my second assignment for baybeats is due friday and i haven't started :( would be fine if i just had to write it but apparently we have to get quotes from people and stuff. gg.
  • got my results for sem 4 this morning. super duper average grades. 2B+, 2B and 1B-. no As and no Cs. lel. but it's kay cos i expected worse for some of my mods. my B- was IO, which was expected. why did i take that modddddd. also gonna use my first s/u since sem1, on german 4.
  • gigging at zouk on the 28th of june for cac camp finale night! i love our setlist. hope it'll be fun! first jam is on wednesday and i haven't started practicing at all. hehe.
  • in a flash, it's the second last day of may. i have a bunch of things on my summer to-do list that i haven't started on at all. so sad. can't believe 1/3 of summer break is over. noooooo.
  • on a completely random note, i really love my new macbook pro. doing work on it is such a joy :)
  • oh and my first assignment is up on the esplanade website, under baybeats > writers programme. hehe. it's the interview profile from when i met tlv. feels awkward that everyone else's photo is so formal though. hahaha.
  • ok time for lunch. i have this craving for kimchi fried rice.

Echoes

Was just playing anagram on miniclip with some random indian guy, and so far he'd beat me in 6 games while I beat him in 1. Didn't quit any games cos I thought that wouldn't be right, yknow, to quit just cos I was losing.

On our 8th game, I had 9 points while he had 0, and suddenly he just quit the game.

Was like -____- what a loser......

Wish I could've messaged him "screw you" but the game only allows for a few fixed messages to be sent to one another, like "great minds!" and "good one!"

So whatevs....

Fifty thousand

There must be over fifty thousand
Screaming love and more for you
And every one of fifty thousand
Would do whatever you asked them to
Keep them yelling their devotion
But add a touch of hate at Rome
You will rise to a greater power
We will win ourselves a home

I have never been religious but somehow I always come back to watch clips from this film, and sometimes it brings me to tears.

It's one of those scenes that is absolutely flawless- the choreography, Simon's unbridled passion and complete carelessness, the fact that it was probably 35 degrees out there and yet the dancers moved as if their lives depended on it.

And at the same time there is storytelling- the Romans hovering and watching ominously in the background, Jesus making eye contact with Judas, both their faces full of unspoken expression.

Let them burn

So Saturday was my very first ever band interview with Tell Lie Vision.

I wasn't particularly nervous until a few of us from the budding writers team sneaked into the Esplanade office's conference room to see the budding bands for the first time, receiving their own briefing on how to answer interview questions.

Then a friend next to me turned and whispered, "Wow, I wasn't nervous just now, but now I am, seeing this." And that was when I realized that I was nervous too.

Fortunately, TLV was really friendly. Not for the first time in my life, I was struck by how socially adept poly kids can be.

The interview went really well- the band gave serious answers but still managed to pepper the interview with jokes, and I now have more than enough material to write my assignment.

(went to write my assignment and now I'm back yay)

Anyways, point is, what really stuck with me was when the lead singer said, "To be honest, I hate small talk. This is the most that you will ever see me talk, because I really don't like it." And he said this with an expression that showed that he really meant it.

I can relate to that because I don't like small talk either. But I thought what was inspiring was that despite that, he still goes out of his comfort zone to talk, because he knows interviews are important, and if he really wants this, he has to do it.

Was overall really inspired by the level of determination and drive that not just he, but everyone else in the band has.

Wishing the best of luck to this band and all their future endeavours

Oh Tennessee, what did you write?

hello!

blogging for the first time with my new macbook pro. the screen is so clear, im dyin. came with a keyboard protector and palm shield too, which was nice. it's super fast, and the touch pad is awesome, and so is the keyboard. and itz so prettyyyyyy. -wipes tears-

life the past few days has been super, save for the crazy weather. the potato life is so amazing. had lunch downstairs the other day, then came up and watched some tv and fell asleep on the sofa. what a life.

in the clubroom now waiting for meeting to start. oh ya happy friday the 13th!

and omg, found out yesterday that mayday parade is coming to singapore again!! omg omg. i am so going. tickets are pretty cheap too, plus they've been playing the classics and not the stuff from black lines which i'm not very into. hehe so excitessssss

and last info nugget about my life- going to be interviewing post-hardcore band tell lie vision tmr! im nervous yet excited. hope all goes well :)

Like scarecrows that fuel this flame we're burning

hello!

had my first workshop for baybeats today and it was very inspiring. met really nice mentors who are extremely passionate about their work, and listened to a presentation from a straits times music correspondent about the history of local alternative music. tbh it felt like a really hipster NUS gem module. more hipster than gek2049 pirates, oceans and the maritime world.

one of the things that really stuck with me was when he casually remarked that he did an interview with robert plant a few years back. was like :O holy crap, this guy is so cool. hahaha.

really stoked to interview my selected baybeats band next week. and really thankful that i decided to apply for this, even though i didn't think i'd get it. just makes my summer that much more exciting.

in other news, my laptop is dyinggggg. i restart it on an average of three times a day because it lags sooo bad. can't wait to get a new one.

also, tmr is the day i officially move out of hostel! planning to go super early, at like 9am, so i can check out quickly and avoid the crowd. glad to finally be moving out. maybe i wasn't doing something right, but i didn't like hostel life one bit. it was super duper uncomfortable and i dreaded the nights i had to stay in hostel especially towards the end when mosquitoes suddenly took over and a wasp's nest appeared in my room.

(lel, laptop just hanged again.)

anyways, it's that time of the year again... the time where everybody complains (more frequently) about the weather. glad i chopped off my hair the day after my finals ended.

Twenty-nine different attributes

down to one final on tuesday and then it's summer! and it's industrial organization, a mod which i really regret taking, at least maybe this sem. past year papers look so easy omg. really bummed that i took this mod in the sem with a lecturer who thinks that everything is so intuitive and easy when it's not. plus i recognize some of the people in this mod, and they happen to be the super smart born-to-major-in-econs kids from my batch. im ded.

but i am grateful that i met a couple of friends in IO who helped me out along the way, so.. small blessing in big disguise?

pretty stoked for the summer ahead- can't wait to see all my fwens again (hi lum and sj idk if you all still read my blog but i forgot how you look like already), and finally get to laze around, 100% guilt-free. also it's gonna be significantly more busy than last summer, cos i signed up for fasstrack 2016 so i can have a slightly more relaxed SEP, and plus, i got into the baybeats budding writers programme!!

when i first read about this programme, i must admit the name put me off a bit. it sounds so kiddy. hahaha. but i read more and it does sound pretty legit, so i applied. got the call to go down for an interview, and i thought i screwed it up.

was asked twice if i have ever conducted any interviews. first time i said no and subsequently i just said well no (again) but i have conducted auditions for amplified, my cca in nus blah blah. when they asked about my tastes in local bands i just kinda blanked and all i could talk about was deon toh, which was the last local band that i saw live, but fortunately i know my stuff about them. interview was super short, felt like less than 10min, and i walked out feeling like i just flunked a test.

waited until wednesday and i didn't get any e-mails, which made me really depressed but then on thursday, after i got over it, i got the e-mail!!

really psyched for this cos it's music and journalism, two of my favourite things.

honestly the initial sadness was more of a ego thing though. LOL.

but ya, eggcited for summer break!! if only my IO final wasn't at 5pm -__- such timing. very wow.

Gratisfaction

You get tired when the days are too long
You get lonely when the days are gone

I really love Julian Casablancas because of how unpretentious and careless he seems. He makes for a very charming frontman when he is drunk but somehow manages to look like a sorry man and not a rebellious youth, and when he is sober and dressed in leather but yet projects wisdom and emotional sensitivity, and doesn't look like a douche or a wannabe new-to-the-scene indie pop kid.

Maybe it's the big, sad brown eyes or the generally hungover look he adorns. Either way, it's working for me.

The modern age

andddd in a flash, the semester is over.

last day of school yesterday and it was kind of a wake-up call, realizing how fast time flies by and that after a short two weeks, i will no longer be a year 2. Saw some posts from year 4s about how depressed they felt to be leaving NUS, and was like :(( i don't wannaaaa.

but anyways, it has been a generally okay semester. not my favourite in NUS for sure. i regret staying in hostel cos i never spent much time there, but it's been a nice time listening to the strokes the whole sem, buying overpriced coffee and hanging out with my best friend more than we did last sem (hi wums)

didn't get to gig much this sem- only gig was cactus, but it's kay, hopefully there will be more next sem. (LOL just remembered i blogged before about having a one-gig-per-sem quota, and it really happened)

thanks for reading my short and pointless blog post.

and now i will rewrite it in german, cos i feel a lil sad now that german 4 is over (decided against taking german 5 cos it's 5 mcs and the workload is no fun) and idw to forget how to speak and write german entirely.

~

A spaceman came travelling

kinda realized that for some weird reason, i have a hard time remembering what 'infinity' means. i keep seeing the words 'infinite' and 'finite' in my lecture notes and i have to think for a bit to remember which is which.

but i've figured a way. now whenever i see a question that starts with 'imagine an economy with an infinite number of time periods...' i just picture buzz lightyear declaring, "to infinity... and beyond!" (blog post title is a song and has no link to this)

and i'll be like ah ok infinite means neverending, got it.

speaking of which, time has been kind to me this sem and for some reason i feel like i've been quite free this sem? i guess excluding german which i intended to s/u right from the start, my mods this sem are all relatively light.

it is the start of week 13 tomorrow, the last week of school, and instead of being swamped with deadlines, i am here blogging after a nice spaghetti dinner with the fam and after re-watching the movie 'the proposal.' (oh my, ryan reynolds)

another 23 days to my last paper and the end of this sem, which has been quite an eventful one. i am still amazed at how fast time flies. back in secondary school and jc, the days always seemed to crawl by. maybe cos we were forced to start school so early every day? idk.

excluding my sem on exchange, i only have three semesters left in nus omg. whyyyy

kinda feels like one sem in nus goes like this:

week 1: a celebration
week 2: still a celebration
week 3: i love school
week 4: my mods look fun
week 5: oh wow that was fast
week 6: omg recess week is next week?
week 7: my mods are not fun
week 8: ugh
week 9: omg my midterm results...
week 10: i am so tired
week 11: oh yay more assignments
week 12: i think i am finally settling into the new semester
week 13: wait what
no

Three cheers for five years

hi guys! back again for a short update before i have to start on my 1200-word singapore history essay which is due at 1pm on monday. and i haven't written a single word....... lel

everything shall be in point form, cos i'm too lazy to try to link up all my random thoughts.

1. kinda realized that every other person in fass is an econs major. dunno how i feel about my degree being so generic? hahaha

2. german 4 / GAP has been actually surprisingly interesting so far, and i kind of regret (a little bit) not putting in enough effort in the first few weeks of GAP. i was wondering if i should take german 5 next sem (LOL i know it's super early to be planning mods for next sem) but... prolly not cos i'm too lazy to keep studying so much for german.

3. the past week:

week 9 has been pretty eventful. had a tutorial presentation for german on wednesday and there was no given topic at all. so basically i could have talked about anything i wanted. and i chose... coffee. of course. it was pretty interesting doing research for the presentation cos i learnt so much more about coffee.

anyway, that has no link to monday. HAHA. had one tutorial on monday and that was it. i can't remember what i did on monday after class. i think i went to YIH to work on my script.

on tuesday i met lianne as usual for our 3101 lecture, and after that i had nothing on while she was going to meet her friend for dinner, so we both had time to kill. was standing there with our awkward blank faces wondering what to do, cos we weren't hungry and we didn't feel like studying (LOL life of a uni student, you only have two choices, eat or study) when:

me: "wanna go to museum?"
lianne: "eh idm leh."

so off we went. it was our first time at nus museum! (is it called natural history museum? i keep forgetting the name) and we were both so wow-ed by the exhibits. but we kept debating over whether the animals in the exhibits were real or not. hahahahaha.

we thought that the museum was small, but i later learned from my friend that the museum has two floors.... : |

wednesday was a pretty good day. tutorial presentation went rather smoothly (i hope), and i did well for my 3101 midterm. (but i flunked my two other econs midterms so...)

travelled back to the east after classes to visit my grandma, who had a fall the other day. was glad to see she looks well. hope she has a speedy recovery.

then i went home and slept 9 hours on my bed. i am quite a loser, still can't sleep well in hostel LOL and i always miss my home terribly until i come home on fridays. go germany how?

thursday morning, woke up and was all ready to head to school. was on my way to grab some breakfast first at simei when one of the straps on my old tattered backpack suddenly gave way :(

i guess it was about time. been using the same $25 backpack from bugis street for about four years now. though i wasn't planning to buy a new one till the holidays.

but bo bian. soo i went to clementi mall after class on thursday and got myself a new backpack! yayyyy. i like it very much. love when backpacks are well-designed to suit students' needs, yknow with sufficient compartments for different things and enough room to store books, a laptop, stationery and other misc. school stuff.

friday was a busy day. had 8am german lecture as usual, then i did my laundry, and then headed to utown to help out with vox gig. there were quite a few technical difficulties :( but the concert turned out great.

had an interview for an internship today, and it was so stressful. really don't like interviews. felt damn shagged on the way home, in my somewhat office-y interview wear and equally office-y jaded face, and wondered if this was what being an adult working full-time felt like.

it really doesn't feel nice. and i think i realized how older people feel whenever they say 'better cherish your uni days cos they will be the best times of your life.'

i guess they really are. and i do feel like i am in my prime now. like, life can't get any better, unless it's the uni holidays.

i enjoy what i'm studying, i have tons of freedom, unlike in jc and secondary school, and i think i have made lifelong friends in uni. perhaps we will not always be in contact, and life will separate us, one way or another, but i feel like my friends in uni are the kind of people i can ask out anytime in the future for a beer, and it won't be awkward. or maybe it's too early to say? hahaha. idk. life is unpredictable.

ah well, it's time to stop procrastinating. need to start on my essay like now. (wow a short update turned into a short essay, hope i can write as much in as short a time for my history essay too)

oh yes, three cheers for five years, acoustic version by mayday parade is... feels. so much feelssss

When it gets cold outside

feeling pretty jaded and tired of this sem, my disappointing mods and my somewhat badly-planned schedule.

can't wait for it to pass

week 9, here i come

You were a child

hi all!

back again with a long overdue update. the sem is flying by like nobody's business. i think that this is prolly the fastest sem i've ever had. feels like i'm just starting to settle into hostel life and the pace of school and it's already the end of week 7.

not that i mind the sem passing so fast actually. the mods i'm taking this sem aren't particularly interesting.

i finally have time to chill for a bit since midterms are finally over. had two core mod papers yesterday and was so shagged after that -sigh-

ec3322 was super shit btw... might be the most rabak paper i ever had so far. couldn't finish it and i'm pretty sure a lot of the answers i wrote were wrong cos they didn't make sense. also checked my mcqs 100 times because they were worth 7 marks each and there were 6 mcqs, and total marks was 102 so that's like a pretty crazy weightage??

i hope everybody else thinks that it was difficult like me LOL

and yay cac+us 2016 is over. tbh it was pretty fun. many alumni and juniors showed up to help out and show some love, and we all squeezed in a tiny dressing room playing card games and making a looot of noise.

anyways, wow still have about 3 hours till my SS lecture. bumped into lianne in school LOL and we're prolly gonna have lunch together

then i will buy hot milo at arts and head to my SS lecture

yay sounds like a plan

symphonie

frohes chinesisches neues jahr! 恭喜发财, 万事如意, 身体健康, 年年有余

Another lullaby

hi!

haven't blogged in ages hahaha. just too lazy.

sooo this is my first post of 2016. honestly this year's new year didn't feel very festive. i think i'm getting all old and jaded :(

but in all honesty, i'm really looking forward to this year. it sounds like it's gunna be fun!

2015 was kind of a filler year, i think. but anyways, here's a list of stuff that i achieved in the past year, as is tradition on my blog.

1. Survived my third semester at NUS
2. Completed German 2 and German 3!
3. Worked at a cafe
4. Discovered amazing coffee at the cafe
5. Did three gigs in a year which is a personal record
6. Did live mixing for a gig for the first time
7. Accidentally ordered my meepok with chilli once, and discovered I liked it
8. Have been trying all kinds of spicy food from then on
9. Finally went on my first overseas trip with friends only
10. Got accepted to go on student exchange to Germany!!
11. Stayed overnight in school for the first time
12. Managed to pull up my CAP
13. Forgot my calculator for a final exam- thank heavens it wasn't a math module

oh yes, i also changed my semester of exchange. hehe. i'm going in semester 2 instead of semester 1! really glad that i was able to change it. i decided to change because i realized that it was way more convenient to go in semester 2 because i wouldn't have to request for early exams, a late return to NUS for the next semester, stuff like that. plus, semester 2 lasts from march to july, when the weather is much better than that of sem 1's- october to february. heheh.

school is starting soon and i feel totally unprepared. the break passed by way too fast :( after i came back from bangkok everything just became a blur. was mostly just flying around doing admin stuff, running errands and meeting up with friends.

i haven't even started studying german again for my toughest module yet- LAG3203, german for academic purposes. it's this intensive course for people going on SEP to germany. kinda like german 4, but heavier. i've heard that your grade falls by two grades from your average grade when you take any language for academic purposes, so i'm all prepared to su it. hahaha. i got B+ for every single one of my german mods so far, which means i'm getting a B-? lel.

okay time to pack for hostel. i'm moving in tomorrow! oh my. so eggciting.

3/4

Hi everyone!

Can't believe you're still here checking up on my super dead blog... wow. Thank you for your dedication :')

Still too lazy to upload all my pictures hehe so just gonna update yall in point form about the more major things that have happened so far in my life.

1. Nothing much has been going on after finals actually, except for my Bangkok trip with my friends from JC. It was my first time travelling alone without any parents or 'adults' tagging along (so weird to say this since I'm already 20) So yup, just 100% friends.

There were seven of us and honestly sometimes I think the group was too big, but it's all good, we did fine and all had fun :) really glad to discover that my friends make awesome travel buddies.

Just glad that the guys and girls slept in separate rooms because the boys turned theirs into a pig sty.

Will elaborate more on the trip when I upload pics. Which might be a really long time later...

2. I applied for a hostel room and managed to secure one! Hehe. No more late nights spent travelling home, yaysies. I get more free time and study time which is great cos I'm way more productive studying in school than at home. But I guess the downsides are that I have to do my own laundry, find my own food on weekdays etc. Then again, it's also a good opportunity for me to learn to be more independent, because...

3. I got into SEP!!! -throws confetti- Got my second choice which is Konstanz University. It's a beautiful place (but then again most places in Germany are probably beautiful) that overlooks Lake Constance. It's also only 4km from Switzerland. Lum (hello Lum!) has been joking that I can run there if I want to. My mum also has an ease of heart now cos it's quite a safe area, far away from all the major cities in Germany. Super excited to go on SEP :) It's a wonderful opportunity and I'm thankful for it.

4. Today is also results day. I did a lot better than last sem which was a pleasant surprise. Also managed to pull my cap up by a bit tho I'm still in the same range. My grades aren't stellar by any means, but I'm happy with them, which is what matters :)

5. Random fact: Been sitting alone in the CAC clubroom for a couple hours now just listening to music and blogging LOL. But I'm not that weird to have come all the way to school for no reason of course. Later is Jam Night yay and I'm just a little early... by four hours... ahahaha

I'm actually prepared for Jam Night for once. Learnt MIA by a7x (it's the video right above) yayy. It's a super fun song to play with a lot of interesting rhythms, and it alternates between 3/4 and 4/4, ooh my favourite. Excited to jam later :)

You can't stop now, it's already begun

Here's another of my current favourite songs, thought I should've used this for the previous post cos it's more of a post-finals mood kinda song, but too lazy to edit

Yay

Hear you me

The photos can't seem to load, so here's a nice song I like to listen to before I sleep.

So finally, finals are over!!!! The one or two days after my last paper I felt the familiar relief and relished finally being able to do all the things I wanted to do, and at my own leisure, with so much time to kill, but now I'm starting to be bored hahaha

Soo for lack of more meaningful things to blog about, lemme just chronicle the last few weeks, from where I left off.

Err, don't really remember what I did in week 13. Prolly just attended lectures and tutorials as usual. 2303 tutor requested to take a photo with us hahaha so cute. Never had a tutor do that- usually they just give little speeches and final exam pointers, maybe hints if you're lucky, then they attempt to say bye to us in the most dignified and least awkward way possible

German lecturer brought German cakes for us on our Friday and last lecture! They were delicious omg. One was marble cake and the other I forgot, but I remember I preferred this and it tasted lemony. Hehe yums

Also got back a bunch of graded assignments and our final exam paper. Don't remember the other grades (prolly didn't do so well hahahaha) but I scored 8% above the average for my final paper! Was so happy cos I camped in the studio and had an hour of sleep the night before the final, and felt super groggy during the paper.

Reading Week was spent travelling to school every day, to and fro, to study in the clubroom with the cca mates. I wasn't stressed at all this finals period, and I guess it's prolly partly due to that- having study buddies. Dunno if it's a good or bad thing. But I did feel stressed that I wasn't stressed.

The travelling was not so much of a big deal compared to the shitty food at YIH... :( It's so bad I kennut. Had to eat there every day of the week too because everything else was so far out. Never again.

Also, made the mistake of deciding to study for my arts gem (Pirates, Oceans and the Maritime World) only the day before the exam. I couldn't finish studying :( Pretty sure I wrote a bunch of nonsense.

All my core mod papers were admittedly doable. Which I guess is a bad thing :( Time to pray to the bell curve god.

Anyways, time to sleeppppp. So tired from watching nothing but online movies and Friends all day long. Hehe

#goodlife

Good night friends
